Joe Biden Admits His Big Mistake As President That Donald Trump Absolutely Nailed

President Joe Biden — in an interview with MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell that aired Thursday and which was Biden’s last TV sit-down as POTUS ― reflected on his failure to hype up his and Democratic accomplishments when in office.

“The mistake we made was, I think I made, was not getting our allies to acknowledge that ‘the Democrats did this,‘” Biden said. “So, for example, build a new billion-dollar bridge over a river. Well, call it the ‘Democratic bridge,’ figuratively speaking. Talk about who put it together. Let people know that this is something the Democrats did. That it was done by the party.”

“I’m not a very good huckster,” Biden acknowledged.

“That wasn’t a stupid thing for him [President-elect Donald Trump] to do,” Biden said of the returning president’s first-term insistence that his own signature be added to COVID-era pandemic relief checks. Biden didn’t go as far, signing a letter sent out via the IRS that explained the payments.

Of Trump’s signature branding move, Biden said: “It helped him a lot and it undermined our ability to convince people that we were the ones that were getting this to them.”

Obama had an infrastructure bill, though smaller in scope and I remember driving someplace and seeing a sign promoting that bill.

Something that Democrats need to learn...unfortunately.

has never been a huckster, which I guess is one thing I've always liked about him. Unfortunately, the current circus makes hucksterism an absolute necessity. Whoever walks the fine line between hucksterism and not hucksterism will be the winner. Otherwise, hucksters all the way.

... was assuming the basic decency of his political opponents and about half of the American electorate. I'm serious. Jow was far too invested in an ideal America that does not exist.

It’s one of the central issues we have in our messaging and need to overcome if we are going to ever win the messaging war. Republicans lie about our accomplishments and policies, take credit for our accomplishments, and project their failures on to us. Then the lies become their voters alternate realities. Fox News does it 24/7 and we don’t push back on it. That is something that we fundamentally need to change.

Justice matters.

...how often did you see, even around here, someone post something positive about a Democratic accomplishment, only to watch someone else belittle it as not going far enough, people are still suffering, etc.

It's a little hard to toot your own horn when so-called allies are busy trying to kneecap you...

anytime someone would mention something positive and claim Democrats were being out of touch.

I guess people suddenly stopped hurting since Trump saying he isn't going to do anything about high prices got little attention.
