Come Monday will we see the beginning of the most powerful Presidency in the history of the country?

We will have a President who feels no constraint applies to him, be it legal, ethical or moral. Congress has not shown any willingness to stand up to him and taken direction even though he is not yet in office. In any case he has signaled he intends to go around them for many of his decrees. The judicial system has been generally supportive or at most given only tepid resistance. When push has come to shove, judges have backed down and capitulated rather than apply equal justice under the law.

Will it matter if the title is President, King or dictator if no one is willing to say "You cannot do that" and instead allow rule by fiat?

1. I'm only grateful that he's too stupid. I am worried about Elon though he's a loose canon.

I think if the Democrats win the midterms, Trump will quit. Because he won’t be able to lord it over people anymore and he’ll be 80 years old.

11. That's another mitigating factor. All the people he appoints he wants to be fighting with each other.

2. No. He has a razor thin margin in the House and some wavering Senators. Not a mandate

But he will pretend he has a mandate.

He has less power than he projects. Don't buy into his projection.

3. He's not legitimately the President.

Russia helped him cheat the first time, and this time he was barred because of being an insurrectionist (besides voter suppression and Lord knows what else).

He's a traitorous pretender.

is ultimately meaningless. Congress' refusal to bar him from office via impeachment means he will be the President

a presidency in any conventional sense of the word. I sincerely believe we have entered a new phase of American history. It will be something we've not seen before in our lifetimes in the United States. The only conceivable limits will be in the courts, and they vary greatly as to quality, with the Department of Justice and SCOTUS seemingly prepared to grant most of his wishes.

Let me fix that for you "...we will see the beginning of the most corrupt, inept presidency..."

If we can slow him down or get some wins and take back the House, I think he loses his power or importance. He can still do a lot of damage but he will be a lame duck and maybe he will just get bored of the job.

8. Not exactly a presidency, going by what TSF's said and done so far

Something clumsier and crueller than a presidency, like a dictatorship stirred together with a S&M circus sideshow. Like one of the awful weird Caesars crossed with professional wrestling probably.

It will be... different.

And the people choose dictatorship...

I don't even want to know my fellow Americans anymore. I wish I could disown them like Michael did to Fredo in the boathouse 😔
