NEW: My staff just got ahold of this memo from House Budget Committee Republicans. It's lengthy and hard to digest but it tells us exactly how Republicans plan to sell out the American people for another round of tax cuts to the rich. We're breaking down the highlights as we go:

Repealing Green Energy Tax Credits
Eliminating Head of Household Filing Status
Getting rid of many clean air/pollution reduction funding
Eliminate charitable deductions to Health Organizations
Eliminate nonprofit status for hospitals
Getting rid of mortgage interest deductions
Allow them to tax scholarship money
Repeal the minimum nursing staffing rule for nursing homes
And - here's a medical disaster waiting . . .
Eliminate the inpatient only list so they can do same day procedures in low cost outpatient settings!
And there's even more to unpack!
Meanwhile - lowering corporate tax rates, adding 10% tariffs etc.
So.... my question is ARE DEMOCRATS GOING TO DO ANYTHING? FIGHT OR CAVE? When I think that only 9 Senators stood against Republicans and voted NO on that disgraceful Laken Riley Act - I have little hope. I don't think we can only depend on: Booker, Hirono, Kim, Markey, Merkley, Sanders, Schatz, Smith and Warren to keep the defense up.
a lot of maga are not going to like some of this at all.

(26,086 posts)They are going to co-mingle our Treasury and crypto after they make a killing with the tariffs.
President Felon himself stated that tariffs "make a lot of money." Plus, he's on video saying it with a smile.
So, that's what all of the focus on tariffs is about in case anyone wasn't clear about it.

(26,086 posts)Investment in precious metals in another group and was generally poo pooed by the majority for the idea. So, I don't know.
I think that they might end FDIC and I'm thinking about slowly withdrawing everything I have, which could take a while. Then making an at home fire proof safe purchase.
Meanwhile, selling everything I can earn a dollar on, ending superfluous travel, curtailing my unnecessary spending and rationing food.
I don't eat much anyway and since both of my dogs died in the same week last month I've pretty much lost my verve. So, I'm not a good conversationalist at the moment.

(19,438 posts)etc.), I was told they either didn't know about it or considered any foreign currency "Speculative." I think the U.S. dollar may be regarded as such after the next 6-12 months. Hope I'm wrong and my "gut" is just indigestion?
And yes, they will try to end FDIC which is assanine. Came out of the Depression as a safeguard. Figures they would want to take it away. They are truly evil

(26,086 posts)One the same day my daddy died and the other on Friday the thirteenth. I'm not sure how I'm going to get over it. If I will.
"Speculative" is definately how the U.S. dollar may be regarded soon. Every thing else is and that includes reality. It's like the world is being turned upside down but primarily for the purpose of emptying pockets.
I'm afraid of being paralyzed by shock and unable to react sensibly. Especially when everything is so uncertain. Uncertainty is destabilizing in itself.
