I forget the name, but they said they want to help elect legislators that will support and protect law enforcement.
Me: "Are you going to support Republicans that support the release of the January 6th terrorists?"

(57 posts)When you get a call asking to support an organization like the Police always ask them what percent of what you give them will actually be sent to the fund. Some will say they don't know. When they do tell you you will hear a very low number of often less than 20%. The people doing the calling are actually working for an independent company. The organizations they say they are collecting for don't care as I suspect they feel that some money is better then 0.
If you wana give give directly.

(382 posts)Ask what percentage is going to charity---this is usually about 10%. This is a big racket with police and firefighter groups.

(12,106 posts)I'll add a first question whether the members of the police agency belong to the FOP. If so, I will allow that I will send a check when the FOP makes a full-throated condemnation of Trump's pardons - no both-siderism crap.
If they don't belong to the FOP, I'll use your tactic.

(16,694 posts)I don't donate to PACs. Even on issues I support. It's Citizens United and it's why the Oligarchs have taken over politics. I support candidates.
I liked your question, and the response was predictable.
