Kamala Harris hasnt made any public decisions about what her political future is going to be but she has already created the organization that will help fuel it.
The former vice president established an LLC called Pioneer49 last month in her home state of California, according to her presidential campaign's final financial disclosure that was filed last week and confirmed by a person familiar with the organization's plans. The disclosure form described the organization as an entity to assist the former vice president and is likely to help fuel Harris next political move.
Pioneer is Harris code name used by the Secret Service, and her LLC takes on the same naming convention used by former President Barack Obama in creating the organization Renegade44 when he left office. (Harris is the 49th vice president.)
Harris has kept any considerations about political future close to the vest, but she has told advisers and allies to keep her options open, POLITICO reported in November. There are essentially three options for Harris: run for governor of California in 2026, run for president again in 2028 or decline to run for office and be a leader of the party from the sidelines.
Harris, who flew to California after President Donald Trump's inauguration, is expected to confer with close aides, allies and family over the next few months to make a decision about her next steps.

(1,209 posts)And she wasn't a secret, she was VP for 4 years and a well known senator well before that. Everyone has an opinion on her already

(1,209 posts)I don't want to run a candidate who has already lost
If Kamala Harris runs again - she will lose. There is zero doubt about it.
We need new, fresh candidates that must emerge from the youth of this country. That's the only way that Progressives and Liberals will survive into the future. It's the only way that this democracy will survive. Will it happen? I am not encouraged when I look around at the apathy of today's youth. Most don't have a clue about the fact that their futures and freedoms are hanging by a thread.

(29,183 posts)I get it was the Secret Services name for her, but language matters, and as we know, the Secret Service is not the most enlightened agency. In this country, white pioneers are mythologized as heros but in truth, they killed Indigenous Americans and stole their land. What pioneers did in the name of manifest destiny was a precursor to Tulsa and Rosewood, which were precursors to today. Trump and MAGA believe its their manifest destiny to return society to those times, where they could legally string up or beat up anyone they dont like and steal their wealth.
Im speaking as a descendent of white settler colonialists who knows her history. Its OldThink to consider pioneers as heroes, its so white and 20th Century. Better messaging would have been to choose a symbol of hope or transformation, like a sunrise or a dragonfly.

(52,062 posts)Harris was certainly a pioneer in her position as VP.
Fauci was a pioneer of AIDS research.
Einstein was a pioneer.
Neil Armstrong was a pioneer.
The Little Rock students in the 1950s desegregation were pioneers.
Rosa Parks was a pioneer.
