Yesterday, Donald spent the day doing awkward PR stunts in disaster-ridden areas of NC and CA, displaying just how clueless and heartless he is.

Trump made two demands in exchange for sending aid money to California. He repeated his debunked conspiracy theory that water needed to be “released.”

Donald’s other stipulation is for California to pass a voter ID law. After losing the state by a landslide 3 times, he’s clearly abusing his power to try and influence the midterm elections.

He also once again threatened to close FEMA, which would cripple emergency response efforts, and be terrible for all Americans.

In other news, Donald removed security details for Dr. Fauci, Pompeo, and Bolton—who all face legitimate threats. Trump said he’d feel no responsibility if they were harmed. Exactly what I’d expect from this maniac, like how he pardoned violent rioters who assaulted police officers on January 6th.

8. I hope Americans listened very carefully to his rationale for

eliminating FEMA--because it was laugh-out-loud feeble. It was so desultory that even if you didn't know for sure what he was talking about eliminating, you knew the justification was improvised on the spot by a super idiot.

He said FEMA workers, being unfamiliar with an area, would struggle to find their way around and get into position to help out the populace.

And he said that local folks could handle emergencies better than FEMA professionals.

I don't know where you all live, but I told my mother this second excuse and she just started to laugh. No, local people aren't better at handling natural disasters or mass-casualty catastrophes than "the locals." Although we have small police and fire departments, we live in a deeply red area where the average age is probably 75. Everybody has chronic health issues. Our town is filled with people who still don't believe in COVID, never have worn a mask in their lives and are unqualified to help with a disaster. Period.
