TSF bans Pride and Black Lives Matter flags on buildings

Just days after taking office, the 78-year-old signed 25 executive orders that included stopping the TikTok ban and declaring that there are only two genders in the United States.

Now, he has made headlines again with a controversial promise regarding what type of flags can be flown on federal buildings.

As the State Department enacted a one-flag policy, any US embassy or overseas mission cannot fly the Pride or Black Lives Matter flag, according to The Washington Free Beacon.

This means that only three flags that are not the stars and stripes of the United States’ national flag are permitted to be flown. These are: the Prisoner of War, the Missing in Action, and the Hostage of Wrongful Detainee flags.

They're just performative, superficial, guaranteed backfires. Actions taken in good faith through hard work and engagement matter and merit respect. Special flags are unimaginative, lazy gestures.

Alas, but these "extra flags" (commissioned by no democratic body I'm aware of) are one of many refuges for scoundrels, incompetents, and me-me-me types. They serve these people well and the underlying principles poorly.

on federal installations, then yes.

I’m not aware that’s happening though.

They are required to be flown by law on specific days at all federal facilities.

Nobody calls them "performative," though they are clearly performative political nonsense. There were no POWs keptin Vietnam after the designated release days, and the Vietnamese have worked diligently to assist in the recovery of war era MIAs.

His own explanation of this latest outrage contains falsehoods (surprise)

"The flag of the United States of America united all Americans under the universal principles of justice, liberty, and democracy. These values, which are the bedrock of our great country, are shared by all American citizens, past and present."

We wouldn’t need Pride or BLM flags if that was true.
SCROTUS has worked very hard to ensure that ALL Americans cannot share in any of those things.
All those oaths to defend against enemies are being abrogated wholesale. How do we get those people onboard with actual defense of democracy?

Birthright citizenship, declaring there are only two genders, deportations, barring US admission to people whose lives are in immediate danger (Afghan citizens already cleared for admission because they assisted the US in the war), critical health matters (barring communications, stopping routine purchase of supplies for ongoing research, etc.), and a bunch of other stuff that makes more difference in my day to day life, and that of my loved ones, than an extra flag on a pole.
