I hope this is in the right place to post this. Im not a frequent op producer.
I feel like it might have been his best show ever. I believe Stephan A. Smith did a wonderful job of pointing out party issues. I thought he also highlighted the dichotomy within the party in an easily understandable way. Especially with Ro Khanna sitting next to him highlighting the contrast within the party. I also had a few much needed laughs at the comedy. First time I heard the wife laugh out loud in a while. That was nice.

(708 posts)I used to agree with him about 90% of the time, now not so much. But I like the discussion part. And the opening interview was good. New Rules at end got preachy, as he does often. But I'll continue to tune in.
Yes, it was much better than it has been, at least he did not have a MAGAT apologist on which he frequently had in the past.

I'm tired of the trans bashing because it's unnecessary hatred. But in my red state I think that and immigration and economy did us in. Obviously, white wing hatred did too. I suspect the two ads that did us in here were the one with Charlemange the God playing a clip of VP Harris purportedly promoting sex changes for prisoners and the one where she says she wouldn't change anything if she were Prez. It was BS, but I suspect very effective.
Mid-terms are coming up and we need some new faces. I saw Senator Schumer standing in the well (Friday I think) with almost no one in the Chamber railing about executive orders. It's just painful to watch right now.

(109 posts)I dont feel as though it was trans bashing as much as pointing out how people see the partys priorities. If that makes sense.

(22,151 posts)As one of the most passionate advocates for LGTBQ rights here, I think it was not so much about trans rights as it was about framing trans rights as Democrat's number 1, 2, and 3 priority. Trans rights are important and need champions, but more than champions what they needed was Democrats to win, without that there can be no trans rights and Trump and his band are looking to erase trans people from public life at this very moment.
Harris and Walz weren't going to shy away from being champions for LGTBQ people, but thwy got painted as not caring about other issues because of that. It was unfortunate.

(478 posts)I went to his show 3 years ago in Chicago and while Maher used to be funny, now he sounds like an angry old conspiracy theorist. He was just spouting anti mask crap and bashing the trans community literary the whole set.

(29,298 posts)I stopped watching Maher years ago. I recommend that others do likewise.

(71,385 posts)And, your post was not pertinent to the OP, because you, by your own admission, didn't watch the show.

(29,298 posts)And I hear enough about Maher and his show here at DU to confirm how smart it was for me to stop watching his bullshit and contributing to his ratings, long ago. In the unlikely event that I need some unhinged liberal-bashing, the NY Times opinion page is readily available.
But by all means, feel free to disagree with me. Hope it makes you feel better, in our current political climate.

(271 posts)I will try and catch it one of these nights. I don't generally watch anymore unless a show is recommended.
