(29,244 posts)If he's not persuaded to retire, he'll probably end up a Republican before too much longer. One way or another, he's a liability that we can't afford, anymore.

(35,796 posts)Nothing concrete - just a gut feeling. But nothing he's done recently has surprised me.
a fan, but I voted for him. He is now dead to me. I thought he would be strong on issues, but he's a wet noodle.

(302 posts)Granted a resolution to condemn anything right now still feels like quaint, gentlemens rules at work but how. Freaking. Hard. Was. This. One?!

(3,760 posts)We need to stop bashing prematurely. And I think this original post should be modified to correct the error, like NOW.
Otherwise, why is this all not reportable as breaking the rules?

We can call him out, for sure. Its just more useful to be accurate, so as not to waste the righteous outrage.

(17,498 posts)He said he was traveling through his state and noticed and could feel the fervor for Trump and said the support for him was very real and intense especially after Trump was shot.
So it seems hes catering to those in his state as some kind of show of being their leader. Thats the best I can do in figuring out why hes catering to the right wing fringe instead of the left wing fringe he seemed to start with and who pushed for him over Conner Lamb who was condemned as a normal type I.e., centrist.
Deep State Witch
(11,539 posts)Even though he lives in the same neighborhood as one of my friends, I was skeptical of him. I thought he was a good guy, just not Senator material. But, a lot of folks on DU loved his populist message, and preferred him over Lamb. (Who, I admit to being partial to because he was from my former home district in northern Allegheny County.)
Butterflylady
(4,094 posts)And I apologize for that. Still think that something changed him after the stroke. I think he no longer has a filter.

(17,498 posts)about Lamb the usual losing messaging. Its a shame we cant have good Democrats because of this self sabotage.

(18,930 posts)I posted about how the crowd size was absolutely massive, and that we are underestimating his support there. Well guess what? I was ripped a new one in that thread, attacked from every which way by multiple posters.
When he won PA, not a single one of those posters came back in the thread and apologized.

And they only protest pardons for those who attacked police. That's not to minimize those attacks, but there was so much more crime that day, and this resolution looks past it. We're neutered. We doth protesteth too little.
walkingman
(8,749 posts)he stated that "of course I have empathy for their injuries" - that being the case, then why did he not vote on the resolution?
I think it is this simple - he cares more about not alienating any voters that he cares about the country. That is the sickness that so many politicians have these days.
I don't think that it is wrong in trying and work with those you disagree with, but if don't approve of what Trump is doing - then just say it - don't be a coward.

(887 posts)Not to mention a doofus who sounded like a Trump collaborator about a week ago. I hate to call him a slob but that word comes to mind when I think of him. He needs to be primaried.
He's also a slouching doofus who sounded like a Trump collaborator about a week ago. I'm not sure what he brings to the table besides a semi-reliable Dem vote. He needs to be primaried.
