I know I've been wronged...a lot through-out this life---but I've learned to walk away. Unlike maybe most(?) people, I retaliate I get my ass kicked.

In my mind, the only time retaliation is justified is in the presence of an immediate threat, mostly of some physical violence. I can defend myself if there's a physical threat, but I can't go hit someone tomorrow because they hit me today (unless they hit me right before midnight).

But in general, I don't feel like there's ever a good reason to go against my morals or personal dignity just because someone else doesn't have good morals or dignity. Not worth harming myself actively.

I see plenty of "going low." All of it amounts to meaningless barking at the moon and vindictive emotion completely detached from any "serious effective retaliation." Screaming Nazi, Fascist, Putin, and on and on isn't serious effective retaliation.

Should people bite individuals or should they bite the system. Biting Trump is about as effective as biting individual billionaires. It might make people feel good, but they quickly reproduce and others will take their place until the system that makes Trump and billionaires possible is addressed.

I recommend not broadcasting it.

If, however, you're just joining the group that is shouting, "Let's you and him fight!" carry on.

is the question of how long do some, or someone, submit to abuse before they retaliate against it.

there is no way for you to know if I have or have not answered that for myself. I was interested in what the thresholds, tolerances, were for others relative to present circumstances.

Personally? I am more than aware of the difference between the bark and the bite. And I am glad to have discovered some on DU that are likewise discerning.

We still have that option. If that option went away, then we can have other conversations.
