ICE arrests 956 in 1 day as Trump admin immigration crackdown ramps up (Axios)Why it matters: The largest number of single-day arrests announced by Immigration and Customs Enforcement under Trump since he took office last Monday and declared a national emergency on the U.S.-Mexico border is a clear sign that his administration is stepping up efforts to crack down on undocumented immigrants.
By comparison, an ICE report shows the average number of daily arrests of noncitizens with criminal convictions or pending charges in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30 was 310.7.

(22,151 posts)This is pointless to compare 1 day with an average. Does ICE normally arrest 310 every day plus or minus 25 or do they build up to sweeps and arrest 1000 one day and then just a few in the following days to get to the 310 per day average.

(19,032 posts)If Ice does that number every day, that only comes out to 1,395,760 over 4 years. Didn't Trump promise a lot more than that?
