Gary Marcus: NVidia is having a really bad day. OpenAI's day is worse. Their business model (charging big bucks for

LLMs) basically just blew up, DeepSeek is running circles around them, and a lot of the remaining talent is probably going to start thinking about whether to jump ship.

And all this after Elon called BS on Stargate, while Microsoft largely opted out.

NVidia will definitely still be here next year; OpenAI could conceivably run out of cash.

Personally, I am way more pissed off at OpenAI than I am at NVidia.

Not everybody at OpenAI deserves this. There were some who resigned when Sam Altman decided he didn't like the not-for-profit morally responsible business model.

Trump will be handing China a big leap over the US
In Technology, medicine, manufacturing, military advancement, science, health, geopolitical power and influence, PhDs. You name it, the US will be going exponentially down under his fascist rule.

Too soon to make such definite statements on winners and losers in an evolving technology. Although I think Trump may be a loser because his big AI announcement has been overshadowed.

that DeepSeek claims it can what it claims it can do for the price it says it can do it.

But investors are overreacting because just about everybody can recognize a bubble when they are inside of one.

feeling that OpenAI knew all along it didn't require so much money to achieve the technological objectives they had in mind?

I know I could be wrong.

I've seen nothing reported about this Chinese chip which is about the machine learning which NVIDIA is pioneering. Right now, there’s no evidence that DeepSeek is doing machine learning. Paranoia runs deep in the heartland of nervous investors and it's probably all overdone.
