United States Public Health Officials Ordered To Stop Working With World Health Organization
This afternoon, the Associated Press is reporting that United States officials have officially ordered all public health officers to cease working at the World Health Organization just days after President Donald Trump signed an executive order pulling the United States out of the World Health Organization.
According to the Associated Press, a senior CDC official sent a memo to senior leaders at the agency late last night informing them that they must immediately stop working with the World Health Organization and to "await further guidance."
The memo went on to say that "“all CDC staff engaging with WHO through technical working groups, coordinating centers, advisory boards, cooperative agreements or other means — in person or virtual.
The World Health Organization has done critical work for the United States and other nations around the world in the fight against global pandemic. The Trump Administration further worked closely with the World Health Organization during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
