I'm not religious, but I always loved this Bible passage

Last edited Tue Jan 28, 2025, 01:48 AM - Edit history (2)

Matthew 25:40-45
New International Version

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,

43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

The guy a a dollar on and I I’ve been looking for one of these for years. He said if that the case you can have it for 50 cents. Kind of beat up and a date of 1956 written in it and looked like it had been thru a war.
All the words of Jesus are written in red. I’m a Secular Humanist, but love the study of religion.
You’d think a Christian would know those words first. 🤣. Seems most don’t. If you just read those words, it makes more sense. There is a Red Letter Bible Association.
Check out the Beatitudes.

O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.

3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:

6 When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.

7 Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.

8 My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.

9 But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.

10 They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes.

Have no idea what being Christian means beyond what some dude--usually--text proofs his way thru Sunday sermons. Ask about the Holy Spirit and you get a blank stare. Mention that nowhere does Jesus say worship me, he says only follow me and they'll accuse you of being a socialist. That passage from Matthew, and the beatitudes are Christianity. Most are prideful, judgmental, smug--the prodigal son's "good" brother who is on the outside looking in at the end of the parable.

We are promised eternal damnation for not aiding "the least of these."
