Medicaid will be back up soon

The online portal through which state Medicaid departments receive federal funding stopped working Tuesday, according to state officials who rely on that system to funnel payments to millions of patients nationwide. The outage at least temporarily jeopardized payments the federal government legally owes Medicaid programs, which serve tens of millions of low-income Americans and cover the cost of treating those patients in hospitals and clinics.

A memo from the Office of Management and Budget on Tuesday said that the Medicaid program would “continue without pause,” and Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, said that the White House was “aware” of the outage and was working to have it “back online shortly.”

he actually follows through on. Not as much as we thought anyway. We see how the mad king’s hourly threats and rants are causing real harm. The whole world could be in absolute chaos by the end of his first month.

8. It was colossal incompetence on the part of the Trump administration

They had already said that Medicaid was exempted from the funding freeze. But when people started shutting down all the funding systems portals, they neglected to remove Medicaid from the list so it got shut down too.

9. I believe the OMB order said that Medicare was specifically exempted from the freeze

But did not say Medicaid was exempted. So, yes, it's incompetence on the part of the administration, but not necessarily by the people who were shutting down the portals. They were just following orders.

10. Well, somebody screwed up big time. On the other hand, the freeze wasn't supposed to go into effect until 5:00

this afternoon. The fact that we're hearing reports of funding portals being shut off earlier today across a wide spectrum of programs, that leads me to believe the early shutdown was intentional.

By the way, this article explicitly says OMB included Medicaid, Food Stamps and head Start in the exemption.

Trump's funding freeze creates widespread confusion

Funding for programs that provide direct assistance to Americans would be excluded from the pause and exempt from the review process, the senior administration official said. Those programs include Medicaid, food stamps, small business assistance, Head Start, rental assistance and federal Pell Grants for college students, according to a memo sent out Tuesday afternoon by OMB.
