at the protests...Remember: If they're reacting, then we are being effective!

(188 posts)More positive reactions than negative. Lots of people driving by honking and giving us 👍 or ✌️. I am so glad that I went.

(2,760 posts)We had few middle fingers or thumbs down - I only saw one and someone else saw three. That's it. We just kept waving.
FAR more waves, honking, shouting encouragement, etc. - I mean, a constant stream of cars on the busy highway and constant cheering, and the area is blue next to a purple area with plenty of rednecks driving through going to the mountains.
The issues touch everyone.

(4,158 posts)We greeted the skiers as they drove up and through town. Almost all of them honked and waved and yelled their support.
I saw TWO who "dissented". One shot us the finger. The other opened his window and yelled "faggots!" We all laughed and just waved at him.
It struck me that both were young, white men, though we had some young, white men in our group too.
All in all, it was a fun morning

There are some places in America where we haven't even tried to compete in so long, that having a D next to your name makes you a pariah. Visibility, even on a small scale, can change that.
