About the ActBlue rumors, THIS IS A MUST READ

I just got off the phone with ActBlue. Things are running normally there, this is a normal cycle of job turnover after an election. That was all that was. There has been some right-wing press. Treat it like any other unreliable crap they dish out. ActBlue can handle whatever Trump tries to do! ActBlue thanks us for doing a great job of raising $ for Democrats. Over $3.5 million in 10 years' time.

See the detailed post below.

Elon Musk wants to dismantle key Democratic Party infrastructure like ActBlue. Let’s be crystal clear about why 👇

ActBlue is the backbone of Democratic grassroots fundraising. It allows everyday people—not billionaires—to fuel campaigns from city council to the White House. It’s how we compete with the right-wing megadonor machine. And now, Musk and his allies are trying to destroy it.

They’re spreading outright lies—accusing ActBlue of crimes that aren’t even possible. The whole thing is absurd. But the goal isn’t truth—the goal is to create a pretext for a partisan Congress and a weaponized Justice Department to take down key Democratic infrastructure.

We’ve seen this playbook before. I know because they came after my company last yewar with similar BS conspiracy theories from crackpots like Laura Loomer. We fought back and won by hanging tough and telling the truth about what Authentic does and who we serve.

These kinds of attacks are not normal. There used to be an unspoken rule: You don’t go after campaign staff and infrastructure just to cripple the other side. But Republicans are throwing out the rulebook because they know that if they succeed in dismantling ActBlue, Democrats may not be able to compete in 2025, 2026, or 2028.

And let’s be clear—the disinformation being spread right now isn’t just an attack on ActBlue. It’s an attack on all of us. If they can successfully come after ActBlue, they will use that success to come after everybody on the Democratic side: consultants, staffers, tech, donors, and everybody in between.

We cannot let Republicans threaten our ability to raise grassroots contributions for Democrats and progressives. We cannot let them abuse the power of the federal government to spread conspiracy theories that damage our democracy.

Corrupt billionaires like Elon Musk want to rig the game, to make it easier for them to win elections. But our power lies in our numbers. Let’s show them we’re not backing down by supporting ActBlue publicly, using the platform to elect more and better Democrats in 2025 and 2026, and sharing this post—if you can.

They have expenses they must cover. It is manifestly in our interests that they remain solvent, functional and effective.

Without Actblue, most of the funding will come from huge corporations, and we know what kind of Democrats they will back. Probably better than Republicans, but not good enough.

(1)Trump tariffs have severely impacted my business, representing Chinese and Indian manufacturers here in the US
(2) Investments are headed south with no end in sight
(3) I have to wonder how long SS will be around.
(4) While I have no interest in selling my home, I am sure that property valuations are on a decline.

That said. I still have recurring AB monthly donations.

Sometimes, the president’s authoritarian tactics are subtle. His new offensive against the ActBlue donation platform is far more overt.

https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/trump-signs-order-targeting-democrats-fundraising-platform-sparking-au-rcna202970

For many years, Republican officials looked at ActBlue with envy. The more the donation platform positioned itself as an effective and successful tool that fueled the Democratic Party’s fundraising, the more GOP insiders wished they had something comparable......

It was against this backdrop that Donald Trump took matters one step further, signing an executive memorandum aimed at investigating his political opposition’s infrastructure. NBC News reported:

The memorandum directs Attorney General Pam Bondi to ‘investigate allegations regarding the unlawful use of online fundraising platforms to make “straw” or “dummy” contributions or foreign contributions to political candidates and committees, and to take appropriate action to enforce the law.’ It specifically names ActBlue as an online fundraising platform being used ‘to improperly influence American elections.’

Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland, the ranking member on the House Judiciary Committee, issued a compelling written statement soon after the president’s move, describing it as “a striking development.”

“Donald Trump pocketed millions of dollars in unlawful payments from foreign governments during his first term, his Administration shut down a probe into whether his campaign received an illegal and urgent $10 million bribe from Egypt, and foreign nationals are spending millions on Trump-owned cryptocurrencies right now in apparent hopes of buying their way out of federal criminal investigations through undisclosed payments. The Trump Administration has also systematically dismantled crime-fighting efforts at the Department of Justice aimed at foreign corruption of our politics and actually announced its indifference to violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

“So it’s rich indeed for Americans to read now that Trump has launched a big initiative to ‘crack down on foreign influence’ in American politics with one purpose — crippling the fundraising platform of his political opponents.

“Today’s presidential decree targeting the campaign infrastructure of the Democratic Party with precisely zero evidence of wrongdoing is the kind of edict you’d expect from a power-mad dictator in a Banana Republic. This president, with his approval ratings underwater and sinking like a stone, is desperately seeking to undermine his political opposition by cutting off their access to funding.”
......

I’m also reminded of a recent New York Times analysis — published weeks before the directive related to ActBlue — about the scope and direction of Trump’s efforts against Democratic politics.

Executive actions intended to cripple top Democratic law firms. Investigations of Democratic fund-raising and organizing platforms. Ominous suggestions that nonprofits aligned with Democrats or critical of President Trump should have their tax exemptions revoked. Mr. Trump and his allies are aggressively attacking the players and machinery that power the left, taking a series of highly partisan official actions that, if successful, will threaten to hobble Democrats’ ability to compete in elections for years to come.

Sometimes, Trump’s authoritarian tactics are subtle. The new offensive against ActBlue was far more overt.

I have lost count of the number of emails/texts that I have received on this. I am current the treasurer of one gpac and have been the treasurer of several other gpacs in the past. ActBlue is careful about donors and this attack will not go anywhere
