but I still admired the man for speaking up for the oppressed all over the world. IMO he set the Roman Catholic Church on a path toward social justice that I hope continues through his successor(s). Also IMO I believe a reactionary (lookin’ at you, Ratzo) would cause an outcry capable of causing an actual schism. I could be wrong.

Anyone who sits on a throne and collects money from people with the promise of a swanky afterlife gives me pause.

I loved the Pope. Sure, I disagreed with the stock positions of no women in the Church and abortion, but other than that, I was totally down with him.

The National Geographic channel had 2 episodes by ABC. One was the People’s Pope n the other was The Rebel Pope and I really enjoyed and learned a lot about the man we call Pope Francis and how his life changed as a young man and just how his character was shaped and his beliefs solidified. I learned a lot about him and found a new appreciation for the person he was and what he held dear and how he has changed the influence of a pope and why he was so beloved. A good documentary
