(79,372 posts)Who does the family sue?
The family has no idea which agency broke into their home, destroyed it and took
their possessions. Most likely ICE.

I wouldnt be surprised if more of this happens.

If she had tried to resist (as she said, if she had a gun as is her right) -- she would be dead, with her daughters, and the Trumpists addding "+3" to their win column.

(2,134 posts)...because the citizen victim had mentioned it. And one can assume that if the family has a dog, the gestapo would have shot it.

(63,780 posts)invaders have the family's phones, computers, cash. They broke in, breaking glass in the rental home. They left no calling card, no list of what they stole. NO ONE IS TAKING RESPONSIBILITY!!!

(14,710 posts)can sue. It's hard to believe it's even an open question.

The justices seemed open to giving them another chance to sue over the raid, but wary of handing down a more sweeping ruling on federal liability in law enforcement cases.

(2,349 posts)Heartbreaking. That poor woman and her kids have been traumatized for life. And - incredibly - they took her life savings in cash. Why? This is not who we are. This has to stop.

They told her maybe months to get it back.
These are US citizens.

(10,893 posts)... about the woman and her kids, on FB. I wondered, "Why isn't this on the news?" Good for Rachel... to report this and the similar stories. Hope the stories get even more play tomorrow. It's just surreal... and Canada saying the US no longer a friend. AND, his fans cheer him, at the rally tonight, saying he's the greatest President in history. His fans love the cruelty. It's horrifying... what we've become...

so I was somewhat prepared. They stuck a gun in her face, put her and her daughters out in the rain in their underwear, smashed the house, and STOLE her electronics and her LIFE SAVINGS.
No ID, no warrant, no nothing. THEY STOLE. They TERRORIZED. And NO agency will claim them.
Fucking Nazi Gestapo THUGS.

(9,096 posts)...and now it can be unleashed in the name of cracking down on illegal immigrants even when the victims are actually citizens. This family was simply ROBBED.

(21,905 posts)could have been perpetrated by idiot MAGAs. Probably not, but they did not give their names or cards. How are citizens supposed to know who is invading their homes?

(9,254 posts)that people of color, citizens, have been having experiences like this forever in this country, and under administrations ranging from very Republican to very Democratic.
And it's always horrifying. It's always been horrifying to anyone with any empathy. Oklahoma in particular has quite the history.
This is indeed terrible, But it isn't on the Mango Monster, or at least no to the point people seem to think it is.

I've been wondering about how this would go down in, "hold your ground," states..... They break into your house, waving guns around, no badges, no I.D., no paperwork--and rob you. Unreasonable search and seizure, at the least.

(84 posts)And those citizens are heavily armed and shoot the intruders as they are breaking down the door? I am armed and any intruder who breaks into my home is going to get shot. We have a constitutional right to protest our persons and our property.

(12,164 posts)all over this country must feel after seeing this on Rachel tonight! Locked doors and windows mean nothing to thugs like this. Just think, a woman and her three daughters! Just when I think I couldn't be more enraged by this administration of thugs, here it comes again, only this is physical for cripes sakes. A crack Police department should be able to glean evidence out of the scene, her description of the people, the vehicles they drove, etc. Did she have a land line phone? What about the neighbors, did they not see/hear anything? With 4 females, you know there had to be screaming! Even if this group were not governmental in any way, Trump is totally responsible for it.

(10,659 posts)I taught at that campus, knew him well. Our kids were friends in school.
When this story came out, I was shocked beyond words! Tom immediately contacted Senator Tammy Baldwin, (D-WI), and she went after Homeland Security. They immediately backed off and said it was a mistake, and want to say "no harm, no foul." But as Tom said to the media, that's what they said about Kilmar Garcia. He doesn't trust it at all.
This is so shocking to know someone who was targeted!

(6,136 posts)legally, wouldn't the law require them to wear/show ID? And wouldn't they proudly show ID, unless they're ashamed of what they're doing?
Made me wonder if there are some "freelance" militia-type groups invading homes, stealing money, phones, and laptops from homeowners. Women with children and without a male in the home would seem most vulnerable. It could also be that the previous occupants of that home were the intended prey.
Hope there are follow-ups to this story.

(10,200 posts)If I were a criminal, I might plan breaking into a home with some other thugs, take their money, jewelry, valuables. These thugs often have no uniforms, search warrants, IDs. Right now, it seems theyre breaking into brown peoples homes so it seems to cover them. Then, they can go down the line: Asians, blacks, pesky intellectuals.
