SpaceX Employee With Crohn’s Disease Canned Over Excessive Bathroom Use

A man with a chronic bowel condition is suing Elon Musk’s rocket company over an alleged series of wild workplace violations.

Surveillance, bullying, and the timing of bathroom breaks are all in a day’s work at SpaceX.

That’s according to Douglas Altshuler, 58, a Seattle man who is suing Elon Musk‘s rocket company, his former employer, alleging a litany of wild OSHA violations at the company and personal discrimination on account of his Crohn’s disease.

The chronic bowel disease causes frequent and unexpected, uh, launches—as often as every 35 minutes, or 14 times within an eight-hour shift. Despite the company’s awareness of his medical condition, and a medical note from his doctor, Altshuler was served a formal disciplinary notice about spending more than 10 minutes in the bathroom, The Independent reports.

...because of drugs. When my brother had the disease in 1977 he died from it.

In excruciating pain. At the age of 23.

His doctors didn't know he had it until they brought in a specialist to conduct the autopsy. So, it's nasty but people can live with it if they take their meds - which keep you alive but unfortunately too regular. My sister has it also and was forced to retire shortly after she turned 60.

As horrible of a disease as it is I would bet that those who suffer from it would be willing to try anything for relief. (Note: I am 72, in great health with no aches or pains, and have added a lot of muscle mass being on the carnivore diet for 2 years now.)
