Something I've noticed myself doing

Whenever I'm searching for pretty much anything I ignore any results that point to a federal .gov website. That used to be the gold standard for getting good info. Now I don't trust anything that's on those websites. The rare times I do use them now I immediately go and double check it from other sources to make sure it wasn't rewritten to conform to the administrations junk science or anti DEI initiatives.

about covid - the useful material has been removed and replaced with Trump's conspiracy theory about Chinese labs. I don't trust the National Weather Service any more either. My state has much better and more reliable information.

I'm a weather nerd and I hate that I can't trust the NWS, NOAA, etc. whether it's because of the administrations anti climate change stance or that they're just not maintaining the field equipment because of Elon or whatever. It's going to take years to recover from the damage if it even ever does.

4. Yes, of course; but how can you have confidence when you see what they've done

Complain that government doesn't work then get elected to prove it. This is just that on steroids.
