Unfortunately, the corrupt mass media ignore the criminality on behalf of private interests and other enemies of the state, while dishing up propaganda and side show to draw attention away for the sundry crimes and treason.
Thanks for nothing, Putin and Murdoch.

(922 posts)... and the perfect world is only when Democrats are in control... THAT is when you will have the press acting like "pit bulls on his ass", whoever the Democrat is that they are questioning... and if the Democrat doesn't lie, no problem, they can get a soundbite from the republican/right wing machine and use that to do their pit-bully stuff... Seems to be standard operating procedure for them..

Over $860 billion in manufacturing investments have been announced since President Joe Biden took office.
He and his administration promised a $10 billion investment by Foxconn to build a new manufacturing complex and create 13,000 new jobs. In fact, he came here with your senator, Ron Johnson, literally holding a golden shovel, promising to build the eighth wonder of the world, Biden said.
Look what happened. They dug a hole with those golden shovels, and then they fell into it.
The failure of the Foxconn facility is part of an overall downward trend in manufacturing that occurred under Trumps administration.
In 2020, Trump said that his policies had led to a manufacturing miracle, but according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the United States lost nearly 200,000 jobs on his watch. By comparison, over 700,000 manufacturing jobs have been added since Biden took office in 2021.
An August 2020 report from the nonpartisan Economic Policy Institute determined that trade policies under Trump did not slow offshoring of U.S. jobs and that his mismanagement of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic led to weakness in manufacturing.

(3,967 posts)Did I say 11? I meant 20, 30, 100. Big factories making big beautiful cars. You'll see very very soon. I talked to one... to one factory car leader person who said he's never seen anything like it and it wouldn't be possible without the tariffs. He said 'thank you Mr. President sir, I have so much more respect for you because you understand business.' Another one said to me he's never seen such a good president since Lincoln. Lincoln. And that was a long time ago. The early, very early 1900s. So we have prices way down, way down and so many cars. There's gonna be so many cars and cheap. Cheap. So we may have to give cars away. I don't know, but it's going to be very... great."

The Facts
Essentially, Trump says that under his watch, auto assembly plants have been added at an unprecedented rate in Michigan, Ohio, North Carolina, South Carolina and possibly other states theyre being built all over and expanded at a level that weve never seen before. No surprise. Trump is making stuff up.
There are no new plants in Ohio, North Carolina or South Carolina. Mercedes-Benz, a German company, and Volvo, a Swedish company, both opened plants in South Carolina in 2018, but the projects broke ground in 2015, before Trump was elected. So that doesnt count.
As for his claim of unprecedented investment, Dziczek said: In total, there were over $64.2 billion in automaker manufacturing investment announcements in the United States between 2013-2016 (previous three-year period) vs. $40.0B between 2017-2020.

(8,746 posts)Trump lied as usual.
Car manufacturers like Hyundai, Stellantis, and Honda have announced expansion plans at existing facilities rather than new constructions to meet the electric car demand.
Yet, many may never come to fruition.
https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2025/4/2/are-us-car-plants-being-built-at-record-rates-as-trump-claims
Are US car plants being built at record rates, as Trump claims?
Trump claimed auto plant growth, but evidence shows reallocations at existing facilities rather than new constructions.
However, automotive industry experts say Trump exaggerated. In most cases, these announcements represent reallocations of investments at existing facilities, not newly built plants. And they may or may not come to fruition.
It is premature for the president to take credit for plant expansion given his short time in office, said Dimitry Anastakis, a University of Toronto business history professor and author of the 2024 book The North American Auto Industry since NAFTA. Plants are planned years in advance, he said.
We found no data to confirm that the spate of recent announcements amounts to a record-setting level of automotive manufacturing investment.
