One of the sinster little "Easter Eggs" Republicans have tucked into Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill"

Tucked into the package is a smattering of other provisions important to the White House — including one that would allow the Trump administration to yank the tax exempt status of groups it says support terrorists, sending a chill through civil society organizations who warn it's a way to punish opponents.

...groups it says support terrorists...

So this would be ANY group with a tax exempt status that says ANYTHING Trump doesn't like.

Trump hates non-profits because they chronicle him as the traitor, imbecile and lunatic he is.

We got to get the Clementine Clusterfuck in court where the truth — and the Constitution— still matter.

This is going to pass because it's not a hill anyone is willing to stake their credibility on. Bigger fish to fry with Medicare in the headlines.

Yeah, call them even if they're Republicans. BE A PAIN IN THEIR ASS.

Yank tax exempt status for NRA, Right to Life, those mega churches, and other bastions of white supremacy

I'd love to see it. With a Democratic President and Democrats in control of Congress, we could make them cry in ways they've never imagined. Right now, they're viewing Trump's second term as the beginning of a dynasty, followed by President Don Jr or President Ivanka. And of course, if the 90,000,000 people who slept through last November continue to do so, it's not that far-fetched. But I'm hoping that enough people are paying attention right now to prevent that from happening. We need to keep banging the drum. No days off.

That would require a Dem not afraid to play hardball.

They exist, but they don’t have the full support of the party (or at least the big backers, who supposedly have “decided” that “their” next candidate is a white man… )

Even if a progressive fighter was elected, they might not even have the support of their own party. We need a Roosevelt:

"We know now that government by organized money is just as dangerous as government by organized mob. Never before in all our history have these forces been so united against one candidate as they stand today. They are unanimous in their hate for me - and I welcome their hatred."
— Franklin Delano Roosevelt

Sorry, I’m not trying to dampen enthusiasm…

None of the three mentioned here should have tax exempt status. I think especially the NRA and mega churches should have never had tax exemption. Any church that has over 2000 members, doesn’t need tax breaks. NRA is a political organization as well as a business.

The resistance such as it was in the old Soviet Union stayed alive because the Soviets didn’t mess with the churches. Seems like Trump et al are making sure that doesn’t happen to them.

Also, on social media all NGO’s are not just suspect but almost certainly commie deep state subversives who drain tax dollars. 🙄
