"It's genuinely insane to see the press on a "democrats must self flagellate over biden

being old" when this shit is happening." Wish I could take credit, but it's from a poster named Reconstructionist on bluesky. He or she is referring to trump's lecturing the UAE about "groceries" today, something he has done repeatedly in other settings.

Trump to UAE president: "We have a term "groceries". It's an old term but it means basically what you're buying, food, it's a pretty accurate term but it's an old fashioned sound but groceries are down."

So trump can sound like a rambling, lying fool who thinks knowing the meaning of groceries is impressive and appropriate to lecture a head of state about and that's not worth mentioning? But news cycles for the foreseeable future will cover the supposed senility of Biden, who is no longer President? And it will be presented as if Biden's mental state was not mentioned during the campaign and constitutes some kind of cover up? Do I have that right?

I don't know about you, but I'm old enough to remember the 2024 campaign. It was only a few months ago. NO ONE IGNORED BIDEN'S MENTAL STATE. Give me a break. It was the subject of multiple NYT front page stories and breathless cable news stories.

Don't let them gaslight you. Demand that the press devote even a quarter of the attention they spent on Biden to trump's mental state. This rewriting of history and of what is happening right before our eyes is scary.

I'm convinced they are all getting paid to do this under the table.

Until proven wrong - that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

This is why CNN, Morning Joe, etc. etc. - those don't get watched at our home.

We were still tuning into The Weekend and Katie Phang. They dropped her - so now it's only The Weeknight if we have time. Neither one of those shows were slamming Democrats.

I used to watch the entire lineup and now - I've replaced it with other things. I've also learned - I have to turn this chaos off. I know a lot of people thrive in culture of chaos environments, but it sends my anxiety through the roof. I'm sleeping better the past few months because we turn off the t.v. and read or listen to music at night.

and they know it. They are all just kissing the orange slime's diapered ass hoping they don't get shut down. The party did nothing wrong. Joe perhaps should have stepped back sooner, but that's the sum total. What the party needs to do now is stop the infighting. Leave David Hogg alone and quit with the "Well, I should have his spot because I'm a woman" garbage. He's got it and y'all need to listen to what he has to say, no matter how much it hurts. I'm almost 81 and I think he's right about a lot of things. Too many old entrenched guys in the system need to go.They've gotten too damn comfortable and they're hurting our party and our results.

but the power of the media to distort reality is scary and dangerous. Whether they're doing it for access or at the behest of their corporate owners (or both) doesn't change that fact, unfortunately. I am glad that a lot of DUers refuse to watch networks pushing this BS, and I am happy to say that I have not seen it on MSNBC. So I'll continue to watch them.

and out of touch while the current president babbles incoherently at press conferences and regularly admits he's not the one making decisions on key policy matters,"

or as Wajahat Ali observed: "the media obsessing over Biden's age while ignoring Trump is literally falling asleep during meetings and is the oldest man to be President is infuriating."

""Someone tell Jake Tapper and the rest of the DC media club that there's an elderly out of touch man with his hands on the nukes," said blogger Oliver Willis. "Oh wait, he's a Republican. Doesn't count."

"Thank god for Jake Tapper exposing Biden’s staff for hiding his age," posted the widely followed account Mueller, She Wrote. "I had no idea that Biden was old. Now that we know the truth, we can keep blaming everyone other than ourselves for Trump’s victory."

https://www.rawstory.com/jake-tapper-book/

and the sad truth is they have been doing this since 2000 where they ridiculed Gore with adjectives such as he is boring and other negative insinuations, with Kerry they were constantly blasting the swift boat ads as a "news story" 24/7, which effectively gave right wing scum free airtime, with Hillary their constant sexist remarks that "she is shrill and angry all the time",etc. along with their entire misrepresentations and lie about the emails, by falsely saying that the email investigation was reopened, which was a lie, and then parading every right wing pundit across their outlets 24/7 perpetuating that lie 11 days before the general election.

They have done their job quite well for their corporate billionaire owners.

I am at the point that I think Dems need to start bluntly calling out the press on this double standard. Name and shame them. Sure, they will squeal like stuck pigs, and probably try to retaliate with even worse coverage, but how much worse can it get? The Dems need to at least try to work the refs. And this would fit into the category of "fighting back" that the base is thirsty for.

George Clooney had to be introduced to Joe three times before the president recognized him - and then only after the aide named him as George Clooney - and this at the fundraiser organized by Clooney.

Joe had known Clooney for many years, but had to be told who he was.

about what was really going on if in fact Biden's staff was protective of him. It's not exactly a novel situation as your examples show. I'm sure that all Presidential staffs have done the same to a certain extent. But it's being presented as something nefarious. And I keep coming back to the fact that there was plenty of coverage of this issue during the campaign.
