'Saudi Arabia “masterminded and funded the worst attack on American soil, ever,” Lake emphasized, saying, “If you worked that day, you remember what you went through… well, [how do you feel] when the president is in bed with the people that attacked us?”
'There are multiple Trump supporters among Lake’s ex-colleagues, and Lake wonders how they will reconcile the president’s stance.'
“I’m just a guy who lost a ton of people [on 9/11] and was [medically] retired from a job I wanted to keep doing,” he said.'

Some folks have known about his betrayal for well over a decade....G.O.P. has been perfectly fine with it, and with his skanky morals and ethics.
...or their bereaved families and friends. 
And he certainly doesn't GAF about what the first responders went through. That would require qualities he utterly lacks, like empathy and the ability to relate to the pain of others, not to mention things like ethics and morals, of which he is completely devoid.
All of the above is 100% irrelevant to him. The only questions that inform all of his choices are, "What can I get out of this? What's in it for me? What a revolting excuse for a human he is! 
As if that weren't enough, he's too stupid to even realize that he should at least try to fake caring from time to time. Both times he campaigned for the presidency, he managed to convince his followers that he cared about making things better for them, and both times all of that went out the window once he was in power. And yet somehow, they still see him as Big Daddy, who is going to protect them from all those "bad people" (like immigrants and the LGBTQ+ community) who they believe want to harm them). 
Thinking about this stuff hurts my brain, but I make myself do it because I don't ever want to lose sight of the truth while we're living in this surrealistic, dystopian hellscape.
