Fake Sheik Don
It's clear that Fake Sheik Don comes alive in the world of gilt, gold, groupies, fans, sycophants, adoration, praise, and all manner of indices that scream I AM and YOU'RE NOT. Without acclamation, he just doesn't feel alive. So I'm watching Trump, robotically wandering through kingdoms, sitting next to kings and emirs - it's clear that nothing less than a freaking halo on his head suffices to keep him alive. As he's feted with marble and camels - and feast after feast - he sits, slouched and slurring as cheap compliments tumble out of his mouth. But he's an addict - darting from camera to camera - desperately seeking acclamation. And he got enough this week to imagine himself in the robes and crowns - giving us our own Fake Sheik Don. They all know he's a cheap date. They're even sending him home with his own secondhand plane.
