CNN to air George Clooney's 'Good Night, and Good Luck' Broadway play live on June 7

CNN will exclusively televise actor George Clooney’s record-breaking Broadway show “Good Night, and Good Luck,” on Saturday, June 7, the network announced Thursday.

The limited-run play’s penultimate performance from the Winter Garden Theatre in New York will air live on CNN and CNN International and stream on CNN.com at 7 p.m. ET.

“This announcement marks a historic Broadway first: never before has a live play ever been televised,” the network said in a news release.

The show is an adaptation of the 2005 movie Clooney directed of the same name and is based on veteran journalist Edward R. Murrow’s work and tension with Republican Sen. Joseph McCarthy during the Red Scare of the 1950s.

Second, oh the irony of the lick spittle CNN broadcasting a play about a journalist with integrity and ethics.

I really liked the movie and I’m curious how they stage the show. Plus the tickets are outrageously expensive because of demand so I won’t see it live. The parallels between today and the McCarthy era are alarming. I’m watching for Murrow, not Clooney or CNN.

I was pleased to see the enthusiasm of the crowd at the end, and it’s nice to be validated. Again, what I found most fascinating as a somewhat objective viewer of media and production, was that in the theater the star was the only actor who did not truly project His or her presence. It’s the difference between acting for a camera and acting for a live audience, and I’m taking nothing away from Mr. Clooney. It’s like the difference between owning a freshwater fish tank and a saltwater fish tank. It is a very important play and I am very happy that it is going to be widely Seen.

should think about how many innocent children are suffering because of George Clooney’s bruised ego, and then donate that money to help those children instead.
