(2,383 posts)It was later edited to take him off.
I'm more surprised he didn't vote with the Republicans, to tell you the truth.
I still don't like him and am glad he's retiring.
Bavorskoami
(167 posts)Shaheen has announced her retirement,
King is an Independent whose term runs through 2030 at which time he will be 86 years old.
Baldwin and Rosen seats are also not due up for election until 2030.
Fetterman, Hassan, and Kelly seats are not due up for election until 2028.
Only Ossof, Durbin, and Peters are due up next year. Have at 'em if you think it will help us regain the majority in the Senate.
Wiz Imp
(9,433 posts)It would be suicide to primary Ossoff. He's the only Democrat who could win that seat.

(36,082 posts)He posts about SNAP and releasing Epstein files, but nothing about ACA. It's about time senators get the same healthcare that we do - then maybe they wouldn't be so quick to sell us out.

Tim Kaine of Virginia has said he will vote in favor (but Warner will not). I understand the demographics here and his concerns, but I feel betrayed.

(4,232 posts)And Im very grateful for that. But I feel betrayed by Tim Kaine who Ive supported financially and otherwise. I was concerned when he voted to support Trump nominees, but I did not think that hed cave on this vote.

(2,995 posts)Hes up for re-election. Republicans wont vote for him anyway and our base would be depressed if he voted yes.
Durbin is retiring, good riddance, get a progressive in there.

(110 posts)It's amazing to me how Dems are so quick to eat their own!! Jon Stewart was right!! We'll find a way to fuck up Tuesday's victories!! The list you produced are some of our best people & because of silly short sightedness, they're now considered the enemy!!! Bullshit!!! I would like a perfect world too, but sometimes it's better to go slow & work together!
choie
(6,814 posts)is who is fucking up Tuesday's victories. Not those of us who are FUCKING TIRED of accepting these kind of political machinations from the Democratic leadership.

(14,411 posts)You may fault Schumer for not being able to cajole/intimidate these 10 breakaway Dems into holding strong, but he can't actually cast their votes for them.

The SNAP issue is currently in litigation and should be resolved soon - probably in favor of SNAP recipients. And if Trump is determined to starve Americans, hell do it irrespective of any judicial rulings.

There's no way to know yet, but there's a possibility that John Fetterman might not look for another term. I'm in Pittsburgh in his home territory, so let's just wait and see for now. There will be time to decide later ...

(91 posts)Theres no order way he could win a primary.
FakeNoose
(40,859 posts)Apparently Chuck Schumer chose certain D Senators who aren't up for re-election to vote with the Repukes. And Fetterman was one of the selected ones. Schumer didn't want to have it on his voting record, but he doesn't mind when others do.
Wiz Imp
(9,433 posts)all along. They weren't going to change their minds now. They along with the 2 Senators from New Hampshire and the other Senator from Nevada, clearly wanted the "deal" all along.

(59,911 posts)Jon Ossoff (up next year, not 2028) and Mark Kelly voted no, but were immediately savaged on this thread for voting yes. No apologies or corrections from the ones with the angriest comments against them. I have mentioned DU to both of them. No wonder they stay away.
Anyone can make a mistake, but the difference between us and the Foxsuckers should be that we rectify and apologize, where they do not.

(223 posts)Republicans keep their legislators in line through fear. For something this important, it might be wise to take the same approach with Dems. No, I don't advocate violence. But make them fear for their legislative lives, fear for their peace, fear that everywhere they go for the rest of their days they will be hounded by angry citizens screaming at them nonstop. The stakes are too high.
