https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/dec/25/trump-chief-of-staff-susie-wilesIt was Susie Wiles saying out loud what she thinks and what she says in private to her colleagues. I dont think she was taking a shot at JD Vance in order to elevate Marco Rubio or prepare the next step of her career. I just dont think its that complicated.
But some political commentators regard Wiless seemingly indiscreet remarks as the rumblings of a conscience and an attempt to rescue her legacy before a departure from the White House that may come to seem inevitable.
Rick Wilson, a political strategist and cofounder of the Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump group, said: Ive known Susie all my political life. There is 0.000 chance that this incredibly sophisticated and experienced political operative did 11 interviews on tape and did not know exactly what she was doing.
More Christmas cheer😀

That sounds like she's secretly trying to kill him.

(21,695 posts)This is going to end one way or another. And if history is any guide, it swings hard to the other side. When it does, those without an "I really wasn't one of them" card may very well get clobbered. After all this shit, the concept "for the good of the country" may have a whole different meaning than it has the last 20 years. Investigations, prosecutions and perhaps jail. I don't think Dems are going to hold back one bit this time. They damn sure better not. With something like that in mind, perhaps this is the beginning of Wiles putting some separation between her and the regime.

Just you watch as that fucking cuck Stephen Miller tries a coup to take the top job from the Couch Fucker.
Also, the first casualty in this circular firing squad will be MAGAt Mike Masterbater Johnson, the knives are out for that motherfucker.

(21,695 posts)Perhaps they're too stupid to know this doesn't end well for them. Not after all this. When their benefactor is gone, they'll all be pulled apart like rag dolls. With that in mind, maybe Wiles feels it's time to check the parachute and start looking for the exit.
In other news...Mitt Romney is worried about pitchforks. He should be. The reckoning is going to get ugly and it isn't going to just be this regime. Better get on the right side or his 0.1% buds might find their heads on figurative spikes. They were also part of this.

(1,265 posts)Miller will make a play for Vances power and hell only get one chance to do it. JD is already getting slowly pushed aside. Rubio is brown and has no chance at the Big Chair. The wild card is Thiel. Will he toss aside Vance for Miller and Vought if they play ball with him?

This interview is definitely worth your time:

(4,938 posts)I suppose dying from embarrassment and shame is also a possibility but that would assume some level of self respect and I think they all had to have that removed before they could work with Trump.

She's a gatekeeper. In the first trump maladministration, anybody could walk in and throw something on his desk. No longer.
Big deal. Certainly not how I'd spend my career.

(114,445 posts)because even if we don't flip both houses of Congress we're going to make a big enough dent in the GOP's absolute control that Fatso will be shrieking with fear and rage and since it couldn't possibly be his fault,, he will be firing people all over the place.
I also don't think they're going to keep both houses of Congress, FWIW. (plink, plink)

(8,758 posts)They smell blood on the water; the beginning of the end of the MAGAts. This is their chance to get rid of this guy without causing too much damage to themselves.
Yes, they're going to lose control of the House, and possible the Senate. But in the end they'll be free, even if it means a decade of rebuilding the republican party into something that can actually work for America.
The MAGAts were never a sustainable movement; too radical, and too focused on one man's perverse view of America. They were too consumed by hate to ever carry this nation forward. Their view of the future was too dependent on hate as a driving force force to propel the nation into the future.
It could never work.
I see this as a tactical sacrifice of position to allow a chance for traditional republicans to actually rally their forces.
We shall see what happens.

I think this is the most important line in this article:
(From the OP)
"Her critics argue, however, that she has been unable to say no to Trump and is therefore complicit in his authoritarian expansion of presidential power, which has included the indiscriminate firing of federal employees, a draconian immigration crackdown, and deadly strikes on alleged drug boats in the Caribbean."
