This might have been asked before but I missed it...Also, a very Merry Christmas and Holiday season to everyone...

Of course, they did prosecute Epstein, but evidently never planned to do anything about the other felons whose crimes were documented in the same files.
Garland had these files for 4 years and did nothing.
Was it just the "good ole' boy" factor? Was it incompetence? Was it intentionally keeping the files because they had extortion value?

They had a "tips" line open and every voice mail or email mail is a document--along with any follow up to it.
Agents' reports and notes. Legal filings. Any records or business/financial statements.
Pictures are documents. Anything that was audio or video and transcribed--or just descriptions of the physical recording medium.
If they copied a hard drive or had USB keys ...
If they got back ups of his emails ...
That can easily, for somebody that's up and around with connections all over the place and dealings in numerous states all pile up.
Then there's getting all the documents from all the different offices that had any sort of investigation going on or had a role in any sort of investigation all in one place. I wonder how many are going to be duplicates, where one investigation got copies of X but so did another or two other investigations.
Then there's overlap with other people who were associated with Epstein--if they were investigated, then documents in their boxes of case documents could be Epstein-relevant.
Each document is a "file"--I take that to be in the computer sense, since each file might consist of a single PNG or page or be a number of pages and images combined.

(8,770 posts)That alone is easily in the hundreds of thousands of pages - possibly more. Then there are the documents related to FBI and other Law Enforcement investigations. Interviews with witnesses, tips to law enforcement, any kind of documentation, etc.
Add in when he was arrested, they pretty much took possession of most everything he owned. The Files include likely every piece of paper he had at any one of his properties, every picture, every video tape, every computer and hard drive, etc.. Epstein was known to have kept hundreds of thousands of pictures. And someone like Epstein probably had hundreds of thousands of emails. Plus investigators after the arrest would have would have taken additional pictures of all his properties and contents - these were large properties so that alone is thousands and thousands of pictures.
I'm sure I'm missing a bunch of other things tthat would be included in the files. It shouuldn't be hard to understand. I'd be surprised if it wasn't multiple millions of documents/files/pages/etc.

Epstein was supremely connected and a busy, busy guy who operated for many years before his "suicide."
