Our Daughter-n-law gave us the best gifts ever today.

Our daughter-in-law handed us each a small soft package. Unwrapped them and there was one for each of us -- socks -- bulky, heavy, wool, handknitted in Ukraine. We were very pleased with the socks and then it hit us -- knitted, by hand, in Ukraine, sold on Etsy, very likely by someone whose Christmas is nowhere near as happy as ours.

And, no, this is NOT and ad for Etsy -- that's where she found them, there may be other sellers also. Her seller sends 85% of the purchase price to the knitters in Ukraine, rest is for shipping.

She has cold feet and also a big supporter of Ukraine, having purchases some items made by women there and even making internet friends there thru her efforts to learn a bit of the language. This will make great presents for her birthday!

Will be scouting Esty to see what I can come up with!

Under wool socks, I wear Cool Max liners.
These socks would look great with tights and my Birkenstocks.
I blister from the lanolin in the wool.
My sweaters are hand-me-downs from Mom.

I'm allergic to over 100 things. The only thing that my multiple allergy tests have revealed that I am definitely not allergic to is feathers.

I have a bonus coming and I'd like to drop a few dollars. I want to get the right shop on Etsy. After paying a few extra bills I'd love to buy a pair for Adult Child. (once known as Baby Xmas in the early DU days)

even more so she's supporting the Ukrainian women (I just assume that's who it was) that knitted them. What a wonderful, heartfelt gift all the way around. Let's hope we have more and more of that as the New Year rolls around!
