Winter arrives here Sunday night, so I took advantage of our extended Indian Summer and rode my bike to the post office.

After getting the mail, I pedaled thru the center of our little beach town to the surf shop. It was a pleasant 76 degrees.

I was looking for a new board, one that might make me feel younger or, at least, not so old, but if I get one any longer or wider, the Coast Guard would probably require running lights and a life preserver.

Not finding “the one,” I peddled home, enjoying the day, dreading the temperature drop, the inevitable colder water, and getting into and out of a wetsuit.

Please excuse me as I’m suffering from the birthday blues. I know time marches on, but just like a roll of toilet paper, it’s going faster toward the end.

last winter to up my wave count.

Of course, a wetsuit is required year-round here anyway, so not an obstacle for me. But air temp is. Below 50 and I have a hard time talking myself into the water anymore. Been a week now but looking up for next week.

Happy birthday! Never stop!
