The news marches on leaving all evidence of Trump crimes to be consigned to the distant past and loses its title of being news.

(129,110 posts)doesn't mean the old news items will go away forever. And Venezuela is a very big deal; do you think it should be ignored? There will always be new news, which means we have to be able to pay attention to more than one thing at a time. The Epstein files is a slow-leak story but it will be back.

(23,374 posts)I'll say though that of all the Trump scandals -- of which there are practically too many to count at this point -- the Epstein scandal has real legs. I don't think it's going to go away as easily as Trump hopes it will. No doubt there will be many more distractions coming, but I don't think we've seen the last of the Epstein scandal yet.
Also, let's not forget that it's incredibly hard to distract people from the rising cost of groceries, health insurance, medication, rent, etc. Those issues are not going away, and in fact the more Trump tries to distract from them with things like this Maduro misadventure, the more people are going to think that he cares more about Venezuelans than he does about Americans.
