Bloomberg article explaining why no one is stopping ICE

This has been the question I keep asking...why is no one doing anything to stop ICE? By "no one" I mean no one in our Government.

This article explains the various limitations and loopholes that make it difficult to stop ICE. The Supreme Court decision ("Kavanagh stops&quot is a big part of it, along with major loopholes in the laws that govern ICE.

The only people who can try to put a stop to it now is Congress. And they aren't doing anything. I know Dems aren't in the majority, but they could at least try to introduce bills and make the GOP vote against them. Maybe they have, if so, I haven't seen wide news coverage of such. At a minimum Dems need to vote against increased spending for DHS, and many seem reluctant to do that. I don't get it.

larger than the Marines? 30 billion or something? Enough to pay 10,000 more "officers"?

Is there a bill on the floor to INCREASE spending even more?

Congressional Democrats are making their usual empty threats to vote no on the upcoming DHS appropriations bill, but I know they will cave. Can our Democratic leaders grow a spine??????

To go on TV and talk about how horrific what ICE is doing, then to turn around and vote to fund them more? WTF! Jeffries and Schumer need to GO.

It will probably pass the House with no Dem votes.

It's so very frustrating to me. Democrats get on camera to talk about how horrific ICE is (they are) and the egregious actions they are taking. Then turn around to fund them more. It's almost better if they don't say anything against ICE if they are going to vote for MORE funding of ICE.

I get they may not have the votes, but why not vote against it then? I hope they consider the optics.

This ain’t stopping after the midterms. Some are afraid of being branded as pro-defunding police all over again.

when during Krasnov's first reign I was criticized for calling him an evil genius.

Never said he would get one question right on Jeopardy, but he is a genius how to destroy democracies.

Politicians are not going to save us, it us up to us, the people, to save ourselves.

Join or donate to Indivisible. I see that Homan is making a list of peaceful protest organizers. When protesting is banned we are done.

But I am not smiling.

I kept saying Trump is a clever evil brutal psychopath.
He will kill and destroy everything to get what he wants.

People kept saying he was stupid and harmless. And gave me a lot of crap about my comments.

I said a man who is the most powerful man in the world is not stupid, not by a long shot.
Yes. He has no formal education and probably cannot even read or write.

But he has an animal cunning and street smarts.
And has brilliant minders pulling the strings.

Yes we own all of this. We are a democracy and have voted in a dictatorship.
And allowed it to happen.

Yes no one will save us.
We The People are the only ones who can do it.

I remember I couldn't sleep after the shock of Trump winning in 2016. My reaction was similar to 9/11, I felt so terrified for the United States. I just knew it would be catastrophic, and it turned out even worse than I imagined.

Yes, we the people are the only ones who can save us.

scared....now, I'm numb, because there is literally nothing I can do to change any of it and too many in Congress don't seem to even recognize that things have changed and "polite disagreement" isn't even a thing anymore.

They are acting as if this is a normal administration and it is not, in any way.

They appease him...it didn't work for Hitler, it won't work for this orange man either.

Or any of the thugs in the republican party.

We're on a road to destruction and few in the ruling class seem to care or see it.

A little over a year ago 75 Democrats actually joined the GOPers to thank ICE and show their appreciation. And this was during the LA unrest
