The Dimwit Administration is state-of-the-art when it comes to word salad. That's an award they can have, like being the dumbest kid in the classroom.

(20 posts)If King Donald wants to "take" Greenland so badly that he would risk war with NATO, or worse, maybe we should help him. We could load the King, Eric, Jr., Barron, Jared, and the Kings entire sycophantic cabinet on a C-5M Super Galaxy and fly them to Greenland to finally realise the Kings dream of "taking Greenland". I don't believe booking a return flight will be necessary.

(28,754 posts)Go watch "Civil War" (2024).
It doesn't make a political statement (directly) and is careful to avoid doing so, but depicts very well what it will look like if shit goes completely sideways.

(23,426 posts)Great movie. I took it as a lesson that while civil wars are going on all over the world, we don't give them much thought because they're always happening "over there." Staging the movie in America made it much easier to relate to what civil wars actually look like when they're happening around you.
Going off at a slight tangent, it reminded me a little of how the western actors' real regional accents are used for all the characters in "The Death of Stalin," instead of having them all do generic Russian accents. It's jarring at first, but ultimately made me feel as if I was not watching something taking place in a faraway foreign land, but rather, that "it could happen here."

(28,754 posts)Scenes like a crashed helicopter in front of the JC Penneys were a bit jarring.
It drove home the point that we have been mostly untouched by war in this country on our own soil since the 1st Civil War.
Also drove home the idea that no one on any side in their right mind wants this.
And the old guy saying that the woman had "lost her faith in the power of journalism".
Unfortunately too many of today's have forgotten the sacrifices made for truth by those who went before.
