In 1917, the US traded any rights to Greenland in exchange for Epstein Island.

And the rest of the US Virgin Islands as explained by Daily Kos:

“In fact, the 1917 Treaty of the Danish West Indies, selling the Danish West Indies (now the U.S. Virgin Islands) to the U.S. included a crucial U.S. declaration agreeing not to object to Denmark extending its political and economic interests to all of Greenland

Of course Trump believes he can renege on any deal…the Iran Nuclear Deal, NAFTA, building contracts..ad infinitum

as the article immediately points out.

It's still an excellent point, regardless of whether it maintains rhetorical standards well enough to properly be described as "literally".

Lays waste to his insane assertion that there's no "written agreement". Not only IS THERE a written agreement, but at least one such agreement was one actually made with the USA directly. We blessed their sovereignty in exchange for something WE wanted from them, and indeed received.
