Squeal

Malcolm X said that he could most accurately measure how good of a job he was doing, based on how loud his enemies would squeal. I kept this in mind as I watched Jack Smith testify today.

We heard the squeals of the republicans on the committee in five minute spasms. They came in sermons of organized lying, for these people have no shame. They are failing human beings. They fear the felon more than the consequences of telling the truth. They have betrayed the oath of office to uphold the Constitution.

The head of this flock of ass clowns is Jim Jordan, who has mastered the art of being the smarmiest congressman since Newt as he spreads lies. The republicans were not able to find a single thing that Mr. Smith that did not follow policy and law. However, there was a moment of humor when it was documented how frightened Jordan was on January 6. Surely, these people play on the junior varsity level of the maga debating team.

Their champion of squelen is, of course, is supposed to be in the Oval Office, promoting well-being in this country. Perhaps, in a sense, he was unaware his first attack on Mr. Smith actually illustrated what the investigations found. A pathetic, shell of a man. He will prove incapable of shutting up tonight.

I like and respect each and every Democrat on the committee. Rep. Crockett and Rep. Raskin rank among my favorites in my lifetime. I heard on MS NOW that there had been an organized plan for the hearing, but that there may have been some disagreements. I don't know if that is true, but I can see how it might be. I thought there were too long of responses to republican attacks.

Republicans ranted, and did not allow Mr. Smith to answer fully. Thus, the number one goal should have been to allow Mr. Smith to speak for most of each Democrat's time. The republican attacks should have been expected – I am confident the average DU community member had a pretty good idea. Thus, there are two ways to deal with this. First, a single sentence that exposes the republican's lies, or second, adding a document to the record that exposes them. I'm not second-guessing the Democrats, though, as I was very satisfied.

It was mentioned that Mr. Smith's second report will be released in February. It is on the stolen documents.

As Saoirse9 can confirm, I had said it would either be released or "leaks" would begin, weeks ago. However, I was under the impression it would be the report around May, or leaks in the early fall. Injustice Cannon does not have full control of all copies of the damning information in them.

that Cannon won't find a way to stop the report's release? I don't know the law well enough to understand what our remedies are if the release gets blocked somehow.

remember republicans pretending they though Nixon was an honest man. When Oliver North wore his uniform while testifying, republicans thought he must be honest.

The corporate/billionaire party is relatively small, but they are the most powerful.

Thanks!

In a healthy society, Jamie Raskin would be president. I have such a high opinion of him. He knows the deal, and speaks the truth.

The first phone call I got after Jordan did adjourn was an associate who asked, "Did you see Raskin play Jordan at the end?" Indeed, I did!

I'm with you about a Raskin presidency.
It's also worth considering that Newsom would be brilliant to ask Raskin to be his running mate. With those two we could win a trifecta.
And that's before half of Americans even find out what a wealth of knowledge about how to run the country they'd actually bring. One knows big scale economics, trade, negotiating deals, lots of governors, and how to run the executive branch; the other knows just what the 3rd branch needs in restructuring to harden its immediate enforcement powers.
They'd have at least three former Democratic commanders-in-chief advisements to bring back the best of our current shadow military experts waiting in the wings. With former presidents' experience and lots of Democratic governors' lessons learned, altogether they'd drive enough intellectual, political and visionary power to advance the country into a New New Deal era.
If my wish came true, and they won and made Jack Smith Attorney General of the United States, I would die happy.

All they had were insults.

I'd have favored something that Malcolm taught. Place a clean, cold glass of water next to a filthy glass of sludge, and allow thisty people to decide which one they want to drink. The republicans were absolutely the sludge. Jack Smith, when allowed to talk, delivered the clean message.

He said that early in the hearings, some Republicans on the panel sought to defend Nixon, but as the facts were revealed, their questions were more aimed at understanding the truth of what actually happened.

Now, of course, their aim is to shoot the messenger. Jack Smith is a straight shooter who professionally deals in facts and law. When the facts and the law threaten Dear Felon, their mission is to avoid facts, blow smoke, and engage in character assassination.

Their objective is to influence the court of public opinion, because they would lose in a legitimate court of law. Which, of course, does not stop The Felon from directing his stooge Pam Bondi from pursuing criminal indictments against Jack Smith -- no basis in facts being necessary. His motive is to punish and send a message to anyone else who might be inclined to follow the dictates of the law in challenging this dictatorial regime.

Of course, Mr. Smith went to Washington anyway. He clearly stated he will not be intimidated, and would do it again.

Right up until the hearing where the committee voted to put forth the articles of impeachment for the full House to vote on, there were republicans there arguing in support of Nixon. I remember that Charles Sandman was the most obnoxious of the republicans. The Democrats were able to put the cards on the table, and thus the vote was 27 to 11, with six republicans voting with the Democrats.

100% of my late night calls were from relatives and friends asking, "Did you watch Lawrence?" An odd question, as they all know that I consider him the "must see" of journalists. One person asked me if republicans had done any damage to Mr. Smith by focusing on the fact that he has not won every case in the past? I said one must be familiar with the level he competes on. It's not like a young heavyweight contender, who is undefeated while rising in the ranks. As Mr. Smith has taken on some very tough cases, one can expect a hung jury here, a "not guilty" there. This isn't a Hollywood production, it is real life.

My sister asked me if Mr. Smith was nervous early on in his testimony. She said she didn't think he was going after the republicans who were attacking him. I said that over the years, I've never heard Jack raise his voice. Ever. It's just not his way. Rather, he is 100% sure of the facts he is bring to the table.

Among other things, they want to paint him as a partisan Democrat who conducted a purely political witch hunt.

Mr. Smith would have to stoop so low to come down to their level, he probably would need a chiropractor afterwards.

Mr. Smith reminds me of Gandhi's saying if you are doing the right thing, the right person will show up at the right time. It's not that Mr. Smith alone will bring down the felon. Yet, in a very real sense, he is a leader with an authority the felon wishes he had, but never will.

My cousin said that when he watched Mr. Smith testify, he was reminded of the excutioner in the end of the movie "Brave Heart." I said that if he had brown skin and longer hair, he would be the image of a famous carpenter testifying before the sanhedrin.
