One of 9 Democrats who voted with Republicans to hold the Clintons in contempt of Congress.
Mr.Krishnamoorthi:
Why would you give any credibility to the most partisan, corrupt Chairman in the House, James Comer (R) Bumpkiville KY? This is the man who ignores ALL TRUMP/GOP corruption and spent millions of our tax dollars investigating HUNTER BIDEN!
How could you vote to hold the Clintons in comtempt when, as they stated, the subpoenas are legally invalid?
Why can't House Democrats ever vote unanimously as a sign of unity against GOP Bull Shit?
If you want to be a US Senator so badly that you've sold your soul as to not offend downstate Red Republicans, who were never going to vote for you in the first place, I really question your moral compass. Do you really think 9 months from now a voter will say, "Naw, I won't vote for Raja because he voted NOT to hold the Clintons in contempt."
If you are only relying on the advice of Skippy your DC pollster/advisor, maybe you so make your own decisions.
I will hold my nose and vote for you in the general election over any Republican if you are the nominee (maybe that is part of your calculus) but you've lost my confidence as an elected leader.

(32,354 posts)Krishnamoorthi---along with the 7 Democratic representatives who OK'd another $10 billion for ICE atrocities, yesterday---have a hell of a lot to answer for. Everybody keep a list, for future reference.

(15,399 posts)Where does he get all the money? Even if he's using his personal wealth, it looks like he's trying to buy a Senate seat.
Still reserving judgment on that aspect of it though, since I had the same thought about JB Ptitzger as Illinois governor.

(3,378 posts)He seems to be an anomaly in the greedy arrogant billionaire group and in my opinion has done a good job as governor. At this point I would have no problem voting for him for the presidency should he run.

Well played, Clintons!

(3,500 posts)... exempt from re-election concerns in the midterms? Unless the Clintons are, in fact, playing 3-D chess while Comer and his idiot cohorts are playing tiddly-winks, one would have no choice but to question their judgement and their character. This is a fight to the death to preserve democracy, NOT a fucking game of chance in which they stand to make some bank by betting on Red.
Pardon my cynicism, but I'm finding it harder and harder to trust anyone in D.C. these days.

(57 posts)As an IL democrat I was a fan of Raja, but now I'm having second thoughts.
Dick Durbin has been a wet noodle trying to stand up to the corrupt, murdering, lying, cheating, aggressive, war mongering, bullying, ally destroying embarrassment of an administration.
Will Raja follow Dick & write stern letters & speak in monotones at press conferences? His commercials say he's a fighter, but appeasing down state repubs is not what we need in a senator when the nation is fighting ice in the streets.

(3,444 posts)If that were the case, why don't the Clintons go to court and make that argument by requesting an injunction?
I believe that there is a lot of potential for setting a precedent here. I like the idea of a future Democratic controlled House subpoenaing Trump in 2029.

(32,748 posts)Then some joker asked if I was basing my decision on just one vote, or if I was not voting at all. I told him that I had already circulated a nominating petition for Stratton.
I am supporting Stratton. She has Pritzker's endorsement, and that is good enough for me. Quite a few people are running.
At first, I was worried about Pritzker. Another billionaire?
He worked hard for the job and he won me over. He uses his wealth for good. His campaign was self-financed.
He has gotten our finances back on track. It will take a long time to fix everything, but he is working on it.
His family has contributed a lot to Northwestern U. They have contributed a lot to the Holocaust Museum.
His behavior during the pandemic was stellar. Above all, he stands up to trump.

(78 posts)What is even more puzzling is our D2 Rep here in Maine is not running again, so he decided it was a okay to jump ship, fondle the GOP taint, and vote for DHS funding even while the ICE goons are up here conducting "Catch of the Day" kidnapping citizens or asylum seekers in the citizenship process.
The Paper of note, the Portland Press Herald, has basically shut down the comments section for all ICE articles. I am so f-ing burning mad at all of this. I was raised by a WWII veteran who nearly gave his life to fight scum like this. I served 18 years, including active duty in the AF, AFR, DOD, and FAA. I am screaming!
I am canceling my Hilton Diamond Honors and Enterprise accounts, and I refuse to shop at Home Depot or Target. When will this end?

(274 posts)I got Fettermaned in the last elextion and therefore am unlikely to donate to any Democratic politiicans this year but rather to organizations that are actually fighting to make the country better.
David Hogg's Leaders We Deserve is a good one as they are fighting to primary Democrats that do the kind of crap
we are talking about here.

The ACLU is another organization to donate to as they are the ones out front fighting for our freedoms and for fair elections

Sympthsical
(10,877 posts)Who do not share the same . . . deferential posturing towards the Old Guard and its past scandals.
And that's putting it as diplomatically as possible. If DU thinks Gen Z lawmakers are going to crouch into a 90s position on this stuff, well, they're misreading the room (just as younger voters were misread in 2024). They don't care who it is. You're associated with Epstein in any way, they'll be happy to watch it burn.
Pelosi trying to dress down someone like Maxwell Frost is not going to hit the way people think, and the fact people aren't recognizing this generational change is to our electoral detriment.
I do not think giving Comer what he wants is generally a good idea. Comer is not interested in being agreeable or simply finding truth. There is ever his agenda. But, I can't say I don't get the younger Democrats' mindset here. It's not the 1990s anymore. It's not even the 2010's anymore.
Younger Democrats aren't going to defer. Best wrap heads around that one now and save some pain later.
