Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said this week that Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested over 10,000 criminal illegal aliens who were killing Americans, hurting children and reigning terror in Minneapolis, since President Donald Trump took office a year ago, including 3,000 in the past six weeks.
As Operation Metro Surge continues, flooding the state with what DHS officials say are thousands of officers or agents, heres what we know about the eye-catching figure of 10,000 arrests:
Immigration arrest data is closely held
Its nearly impossible to independently verify any of ICEs numbers.
The agency has refused to release information or provide names of all those detained, and immigration court has become increasingly opaque, with hearings held in secret.

On Jan. 6, Noem said over 1,500 people had been arrested in Minneapolis for immigration violations during the surge.

Its not clear when and where the additional 7,000 arrests occurred. One of the only entities tracking immigration enforcement data is the Deportation Data Project, a group of academics and lawyers who track arrests using the Freedom of Information Act.

There are 100's of reports from individuals that are US citizens and legal residents that they were arrested by ICE.
The thugs are practicing military style harassment and abductions, which is horrifying they do this in other countries too.
They lie...lie...lie
it is exhausting all the lies!

(129,466 posts)who were killing Americans, hurting children and reigning terror in Minneapolis. In a total population of 430,00, 10,000 rampaging criminals would have been kind of obvious. Crime is actually down here, except for a rash of car thefts last summer. 10,000 car thieves, maybe?
I think they are counting as "arrests" any interaction with anybody, even people who are released when they turn out to be US citizens, which is happening a lot.

(7,347 posts)That's a vanishingly low number compared to other states and even areas (Chicagoland is supposed to have 200,000-300,000).
If it takes 6 weeks to arrest 3,000, and we extrapolate out, it would take 300 weeks (approximately 6 years of enforcement at this level of intrusion) to get them all. OK, fine, let's say 60% (90,000) decide to self deport. Even with that extremely generous number, it would still take 120 weeks (over two years) to get the rest. Two years of what they've been doing for the past six weeks, and that's if over half throw in the towel, and that's for one of the smallest undocumented populations in the country!
One rarely stated point about ICE is that their p[lans have no feasibility and are unsustainable.
