"Thank a Democrat. It's their shutdown."

That was the message from the Administration's "Rapid Response 47" X account in response to growing lines and frustration at airports due to TSA shortages stemming from the latest government shutdown.

But back in 2013 in an interview with then-Fox News host Greta Van Susteren, the Orange Abomination had a far different assessment of culpability for government shutdowns under Obama:

"You have to get everybody in a room. You have to be a leader. The president has to lead. He has get Mr. Boehner and everybody else in a room, and they have to make a deal. You have to be nice and be angry and be wild and congeal and do all sorts of thing, but you have to get a deal.

And, unfortunately, he has never been a dealmaker. That wasn't his expertise before he went into politics and it's obviously not his expertise now. But you have to get the people in a room and you have to get a deal. That's good for everybody and good for the country."

Democrats have reasonable demands on ICE in order to fully restore the funding that will end this shutdown, but there has been very little talk of even being willing to negotiate.

And this is only a very narrowly limited government shutdown--so easy peasy, right? Child's play.

Did all of the rooms get torn down to make way for the ballroom or what? I'm sure there has to be a room somewhere they could all get into and let President [REDACTED] work his "art of the deal" magic.

It feels almost like he didn't actually write that book after all....

So, you let ICE run loose on American streets in masks and unmarked cars to terrorize and kill people which led inevitably to horror and pushback; now you refuse to "get everybody in a room" and be a leader; but it's all the fault of Democrats?

Classic....

The Republicans are responsible for the abuses of ICE and Trump's immigration policies. I am not saying the Democrats are morally wrong, but we need to be aware of the potential political consequences.

The fact that Republicans are refusing to do that is absurd. ICE cannot continue to operate illegally and lethally.

The Republicans were given a bill that would have funded TSA workers, FEMA and the Coast Guard as a stand alone and the Republicans rejected it.

Even on the original shutdown, only a narrow plurality was in our favor. A lot of people blamed both. The Democratic Party needs to be about improving people's lives thru winning elections. Shutdowns are a risky political strategy where there is no guarantee in the outcome. In promoting popular economic policies, such as raising the minimum wage or taxing the wealthy there is only an upside.

He has shut it down, intentionally. He doesn't even care that it is shutdown. He's rambling on about how the only thing he is thinking about or wants is his federal takeover of the elections so he can cheat. The con could end it right now. He doesn't want to.

They were struggling before Biden came into office. They were struggling when Obama left office. A lot of them have lost faith in either party making a difference in their lives. The Democratic Party needs to earn their trust. Shutdowns don't do that.
