"Rest assured to the American people, the recent increase in oil and gas prices is temporary and this operation will result in lower gas prices in the long-term," Leavitt said.

She shared the news during a news briefing on Tuesday, which she said marked the tenth day of "Operation Epic Fury."

"Last night, President Trump reiterated his commitment toward keeping oil flowing through the Strait of Hormuz, so the United States and all of our allies can receive their energy needs," Leavitt said.

3. She might be right

Orange Rapey Grampa (“ORG”) is fighting a long term trend pushing oil prices down. Ubiquity of EVs in OECD and some of the BRICS countries, plus increasing use of renewables for power generation, are putting oil on the wrong side of history. Most actions ORG takes are to enrich himself and his oil industry buddies, although I bet many of the oil companies have had a rough couple of weeks.

Oil is more likely to be $50 than $80 six months from now unless ORG does something to reduce supply, which he might. ORG is a chaos agent deliberately making all of our lives worse.
