Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows posted an article about the letter on X, adding, The National Academies have weaponized tax dollars against President Trump for far too long. Its time to end their contracts. Office of Management and Budget Director Russ Vought responded, On it.
The letter argues that the climate science chapter of the reference manual violates Gold Standard Science because the peer review process did not include scientists with differing views on climate science and because its authors and funders had conflicts of interest. It heavily echoes letters sent in January and March by 27 Republican state attorneys general who successfully campaigned to remove the chapter from an online version of the manual.
...
The chapter remains available on the Academies website, with National Academy of Sciences President Marcia McNutt rebuffing the request for its removal. The attorneys general then turned to the administration, suggesting that agencies consider suspending or debarring NASEM from federal funding, and that congressional committees investigate NASEM as part of their oversight or appropriations processes.

So while the climate wreckers already succeeded in getting the science removed from the manual for judges, that wasn't enough for them; they now want to wreck science, engineering and medicine in general, because the scientists insist on hosting real climate science.
This is American Lysenkoism. See

(643 posts)Because deniers didnt have a chance to peer review. They obviously dont understand peer review. The idea being prove me wrong, but they have no actual scientific evidence that climate change is not man affected.. so their review would amount to no it doesnt
Sorry, that doesnt fly in science
.
Assholes.

(15,615 posts)Their paper or research just has to meet evidentiary and procedural standards to be taken seriously and go through a full review.
There is very little gatekeeping; but if someone obnoxiously conspiratorial does find evidence of something real, there are less fringy real scientists who might be willing to look at that evidence and bring it forward for review
For instance, I've seen a lot of possibly contradictory theories on the process of future AMOC deterioration - or if it can be recovered based on current climate studies. Neither right nor wrong in themselves, the theories are based on evidence and context - which means there's still no "90 minutes until the movie ends" for the hero(s) to make the final, definitive answers or decisions that will fix the problem and save the world.
There is no one answer or outcome in science, no matter how hard people try to say "there, we fixed it, let's put it away and go on with our lives".
Science Evolves. Technology Evolves. Thinking and Ideas Evolve. People Evolve. Situations Evolve.
Nothing ever just stops and goes away.

(643 posts)With one slight modification to your last point:
Science Evolves. Technology Evolves. Thinking and Ideas Evolve. People Evolve. Situations Evolve. conservative ideology does not evolve

They continue to demand that their lies be taken as gospel, even as the destructive results of said lies flourish with the most obvious and numerous assaults on humanity.

These fools do the same thing, but not funny when it is really life and not fiction.
Maybe instead of calling them MAGAS, calling them Quixotes would be more appropriate.

(4,788 posts)... Yo, Meadows, you lying asshole! TRUTH is the only thing that is against Trump, and if you had a nanoparticle of decency in your worthless body, you would know that TRUTH is like Kryptonite to Trump, and to every other Republican that Satan ever shat out.
Got your go-bag packed yet? You're gonna need it! That, and a visa to Siberia; no one'll ever find you there!

Churches will teach kids all they need to know about life and they can learn readin', writin', and 'rithmetic at their mother's knee. And they can go to work on the assembly lines at 7 years old. You know, back in the good ol' days.
Goddam but these people are morons.
