Breaking on MSNOW: Senators Need More "Explicit" Commitment to end 1.7 billion fund

Grassley, Lankford and Murkowski all issued statements saying that they need a clear commitment to end the fund completely and are not satisfied with the current language.

Thune is saying that he received an assurance from Blanche that he will definitively end the fund. Blanche is going to be testifying this hour on Capitol Hill so we shall see.

Looks like even the R's have figured out that you can't trust a word that come out of these peoples'' mouths.

Congress needs to prohibit the slush fund AND prohibit a settlement that immunizes the Trump empire from paying taxes

A legally binding commitment is a must. Their word means nothing, and I am glad that at least some Rs seem to be getting that.

They are trying to distract us while they take it anyway--or just do it a little later. Or find another scheme to make the heist legal. It's a matter of whether the person who has to sign over the money does it when Trump tells him to.

Only a court ruling, a new law from a bipartisan Congress, or both will stop it. Everyone doling out money for anything needs to understand that Trump is not the law. The law is the law. Trump may be immune but the guy writing the check isn't. This needs to be made public, in writing, and clear.

It's not okay to eliminate the slush fund and keep the part about the trump family being exempt from taxes.
