NJ-07: Kean says he'll reveal medical condition in 'matter of weeks' amid absence from Congress

Rep. Tom Kean Jr. (R-N.J.) on Tuesday said he’ll soon explain his absence from Congress after receiving an endorsement for reelection from President Trump.

Kean, son of the former New Jersey Gov. Tom Kean (R), has not voted since March 5, according to the House clerk.

The New Jersey lawmaker said he will soon transition from virtual work to in person work within a matter of weeks, noting he was “more energized than ever.”

“At that time I will be completely transparent as to the nature of my medical condition. Once again, I appreciate all of the prayers and patience from my constituents and colleagues,” Kean wrote in a Tuesday statement on the social platform X.

Why he's running for reelection if his health is such an issue that he can't go to work for months.

And I'm not being facetious. I can't think of anything else that would make him drop out of sight and mind for so long.

If it were an actual illness I think he would mention it if only for the sympathy aspect. Although there’s the possibility that he’s being treated for an addiction that he doesn’t want to talk about.
