Outcry, Activist AI mentor. For iphone, ipad, macs with M-chips. Passing this along.

I found this via Hacker News.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/outcry-activist-ai-mentor/id6762086768
1.9Gigabytes. Requires ios18 or later or MacOS 15 or later, with M1 chip or newer.

Outcry now runs offline on your iPhone, iPad, Mac: trained on real organizer conversations. By Micah Bornfree, co-creator of Occupy Wall Street. No accounts. No tracking.

Outcry is a private, on-device AI mentor for activists, organizers, and movement builders. No cloud. No accounts. No tracking. Your conversations never leave your phone.

Created by Micah Bornfree, PhD — co-creator of Occupy Wall Street and author of THE END OF PROTEST — and fine-tuned on thousands of real activist mentoring conversations, organizing guides, and movement case studies. It thinks like an organizer, not a corporate chatbot.

WHAT ORGANIZERS USE IT FOR
• Campaign strategy: plan direct actions, marches, and escalation timelines
• Speech and proposal writing: draft rally speeches, funder pitches, coalition letters
• Movement theory: explore frameworks from Sharp to Turchin to the Combahee River Collective
• Tactical problem-solving: messaging, media strategy, fundraising, legal questions
• Deep strategic dialogue: many users run 50–100+ message conversations on a single organizing challenge

HOW IT WORKS
1. Download once. The AI model lives on your device — that's why the install is large and that's why it's private.
2. Open Outcry. Start a conversation. No login, no email, no phone number.
3. Talk like you would to a trusted senior organizer. Outcry responds with strategy, history, and concrete next steps.

BUILT FOR ACTIVISTS WHO TAKE SECURITY SERIOUSLY
Every conversation stays on your device. Outcry uses an on-device AI model — nothing is sent to a server, ever. No analytics. No telemetry. No account. Designed to be safe for organizers facing surveillance.

WHO IT'S FOR
Faith leaders planning marches. Labor organizers preparing steward training. Mutual aid facilitators rethinking their approach. First-time activists trying to understand how change actually works.
Outcry meets you where you are.

FEATURES
• On-device AI mentor fine-tuned for activism and social change
• Searchable chat library — find any past conversation by keyword
• Works offline. Works on airplane mode. Works in a kettle.
• Free. No subscriptions. No paywalls. No ads. Forever.
• Runs on iPhone, iPad, and Mac (Apple silicon)

WHO BUILT IT
Outcry was created by Micah Bornfree, co-creator of Occupy Wall Street, author of THE END OF PROTEST (Knopf Canada), and longtime activist educator. The model is fine-tuned on real movement texts — not generic internet chat.

PRIVACY
We collect zero data. There is no cloud component. There is no account. There is no one reading your chats with

Comment:
This is fine-tuned AI on a specific data set, unlike monster LLM's.
Extended quote. I don't think the author will mind!

about it on Hacker News, posts from Micah White scattered from a year ago to today, but with no replies at all to two of those posts and only one rather bizarre reply to the third (about priests and philosophy). I found a Substack from Micah about this, again with no replies.

IMO we need activism, but NOT an AI to tell activists what to do and say.

We don't need any AI mentors for ANYTHING. Especially a type of AI that hallucinates, that's known to go off the rails and push users off the rails.

I would not advise anyone to download an AI model like this.

I've advised here, too, against AI apps that are supposed to answer questions on various subjects for liberals. Those are also inherently unreliable because they're genAI.

I would be interested in seeing a tech magazine's review of this, if one is ever done.
