Iditarod announces new principal partners for 50th anniversary race

WASILLA — The Iditarod recently announced the commencement of two new principal partners, Hilcorp Alaska and Harvest Midstream.

“Given that Iditarod competitors mush over 1,000 miles of rugged mountain ranges, frozen rivers, dense forests, desolate tundra, and windswept coasts, this race arguably stands alone as the most logistically complex event in all of sports. Hilcorp and Harvest Midstream are not only committed to the Alaskan way of life, but also committed to their employee-centric cultures, which is extremely consistent with the Ethos of Iditarod Nation,” Iditarod CEO Rob Urbach said.

Urbach said that sponsors play a vital role in their overall mission, and they’re thankful for the wide array of support and community involvement they’ve rallied behind the Last Great Race over the years.

“They’re essential. We need sponsors to do what we do. Meanwhile, in the long term, we plan on diversifying away from relying on sponsorship for the Iditarod.,” Urbach said.
