Musk calls MAGA element "contemptible fools" as virtual civil war brews
Source: Axios

Elon Musk condemned a segment of the MAGA movement as "contemptible fools" who should be purged from the Republican Party in a social media post Friday.
Why it matters: A virtual right-wing civil war has broken out over race, class, immigration and the future of President-elect Trump's movement, and Musk is increasingly at odds with Trump's historic base.
The schism may force Trump to ultimately take sides between the largely white, working-class supporters who first made MAGA succeed, and the techno-libertarian billionaires like Musk who are at the center of his new administration.
Catch up quick: On Thursday, Musk ally and Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) co-leader Vivek Ramaswamy posted a lengthy condemnation of American culture and its supposed embrace of mediocrity.
Musk spent the next 24 hours defending Ramaswamy and advancing his argument that America needs highly skilled immigrants to fill high-tech jobs. That argument landed with a thud in the MAGA wing that wants to stop immigration and preserve jobs for American workers.
Zoom in: On Friday, cartoonist and right-wing commentator Scott Adams posted on X that MAGA was "taking a page from Democrats on how to lose elections while feeling good about themselves."
Musk agreed, and took it a step further. "And those contemptible fools must be removed from the Republican Party, root and stem," he posted.

(459 posts)All these tech bros are comparing average Americans to the top .1% of Indians who get visas and come here to work. On average, the US educates more and better than Indian programs.
(See: https://jabberwocking.com/there-were-no-good-old-days-in-america/)
Dont fall for their inane bullshit.
Instead, encourage the two groups of morons to fight each other.
Most of the Indian engineers were educated in the USA. My whole family is comprised of engineers and this what we see.

(7,650 posts)The Silicon Valley techbros don't want to pay them what they're worth. Better to import engineers from overseas with H1B visas, which means skilled workers who will work for considerably less & who can't quit without losing their visas & being sent home. Basically, H1B workers are indentured servants.

(111 posts)but my experience as an engineer for 35 years is that in the last couple decades we just could not find qualified people who were interested in the jobs.

(459 posts)I work in tech, hire and manage engineers. Statistically speaking, the H1Bs make the same, or more, on average, than natives for the same roles. Its not a money thing for tech companies. Its purely volume.
(See: https://www.noahpinion.blog/p/indian-immigration-is-great-for-america)
But part of the reason we have a volume issue, is because the right wing spent the past 50 years telling Americans that smart people are to be shunned and mocked. That experts and skilled people are actually idiots.. That its better to be a loud moron than a quiet genius. That science and technology are for NEEEERDSSS
And so here we are.

(3,205 posts)there may seem to be a significant number of Americans with degrees in engineering, but unfortunately not enough that have practical experience in their field, meaning smart people who can get their hands dirty actually doing the things they are trying to engineer. we need engineers who know how to weld, machine, fabricate, wire, perform chemical processing, etc. H1B visa holders don't generally fit this need either, and they end up being more expensive than Americans, as they generally need assistance from their employer and coworkers with all aspects of American life: finding housing, transportation, medical care etc. and the time and cost of dealing with immigration is not insignificant either, tons of paperwork to process through a slow overburdened system, then losing your H1B visa holder while they return to their home country periodically as required. they can't even work remote when "home" due to theft of IP by their home government.
i walked away from a well paying engineering job a year ago to pursue my own thing due to the stress level and to stop enriching private equity leeches with my labor. every month i visit with my former coworkers and manager, every month i'm begged to return despite the fact that they've hired several people to fill my role. the ads for my position have been up constantly since i left. i can't tell you how many millions if not billions of reshoring projects i've seen passed up due to lack of engineering and support resources.

(111 posts)if the GOP hadn't spent the last thirty years tearing down public education and replacing math and science with fantastical sky wizard studies we as a country wouldn't be in this position. I worked as an engineer for 35 years and most of the H1B people I had to work with were substandard at best but companies are forced to hire them because our country just doesn't have enough people with basic math, science, learning skills to even start an internship. So Ramadamadingdong isn't wrong he just doesn't see that the party he belongs to is largely responsible for the "mediocrity" It's a sad state of affairs.

Oh well. We knew it was coming, and of course, an immigrant (Musk) and the child of immigrants (Ramaswamy) are going to be in favor of immigration.
Makes one wonder which side Trump will take. He doesn't need the MAGAs any longer, so I'm betting he sides with the billionaires!

They are also obsessed with "illegals" because they see them as threats to their political and economic power should the undocumented become citizens. But note, H1B's would be legal and they still don't want them. Thus a MAGA civil war coming right up.

Untouchable (or Dalit) mother and child in India (undated photo).
And in 2011, this hypocrite accepted a post-graduate fellowship from the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans. In 2023 Ramaswamy paid an editor to remove this fact from his Wikipedia entry.
The other creature, immigration fraudster Felon Musk, never condemned this culture in Suid-Afrika:

(121,931 posts)In recent years the GOP has been a coalition of greedy libertarians who hate regulation; Nazi-adjacent, racist, anti-immigrant bigots; extreme social conservatives with weird gender issues who love regulation if it pertains to women, trans people and bathrooms; and Christian nationalists. Their areas of concerns overlap enough that they lined up behind Trump, but sooner or later their issues were bound to clash. Eloon started throwing so much money at Trump that he effectively owns him already, and once he and the other billionaire tech bros had Trump's ear, the coalition started to crack. I didn't think this would happen until the mass deportations began and eggs got really expensive, but Eloon has jump-started the process.
