CNN senior justice correspondent Evan Perez reported Wednesday afternoon the FBI is looking for as many as four people who might have helped the suspect in the New Years Day terror attack that left at least 10 people dead and dozens more injured.
UPDATE: CNN is now reporting that investigators now believe the video they thought showed the four suspected co-conspirators may show four other people who are not the suspected terrorists conspirators.
Just after 3:15 a.m. CT on Wednesday morning, police said 42-year-old Shamsud Din Jabbar mowed down a crowd in the French Quarter in a rented truck. The Texan was reportedly wearing military garb carrying an ISIS flag and armed with an AR-15-style rifle.
Jabbar was killed in a shootout with police that left two officers hospitalized. The FBI said at a news conference from New Orleans Wednesday afternoon that Jabbar had explosives and the agency did not believe the suspect acted alone.

(146,200 posts)that have been raised on and drenched in "social media" and there are so many groups out there for people to "belong to".
In the past, these types of groups were "underground", word-of-mouth, with "communications-by-pamphlet". Now it's all electronic and online - way way easier to stumble upon politically-oriented domestic outlets, let alone exposure to similar global organizations.
It's a FAR cry from the old "pen pal" method of communicating globally.

(2,366 posts). . . Trump and his henchmen convinced the Proud Boys, Three Percenters, other armed "patriot" groups, and several thousand seemingly normal people to stage a coup.
In my little rural bright red Virginia county, the owner of a local tire and automotive shop rented a 42 passenger luxury bus to take people to the Jan 6 rally . . . filled it up the same day he announced it . . . one of his passengers is a retired deputy sheriff who is now a member of our county Board of Supervisors.
Everywhere I look, I see stupid people. I'm not afraid of AI . . . I'm terrified of natural stupidity.
