More than 15,000 doctors sign letter urging Senate to reject RFK Jr. as health secretary

More than 15,000 doctors have signed a letter urging senators to vote against confirming Robert F. Kennedy Jr., President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for secretary of health and human services.

“The health and well-being of 336 million Americans depend on leadership at HHS that prioritizes science, evidence-based medicine, and strengthening the integrity of our public health system,” the letter reads. “RFK Jr. is not only unqualified to lead this essential agency — he is actively dangerous.”

The letter was posted online by the Committee to Protect Health Care, a physicians advocacy group. Beyond his well-documented anti-vaccine views and advocacy, the letter cites other conspiracy theories Kennedy has actively spread, including baseless claims about a link between school shootings and antidepressants and his promotion of disproven treatments for Covid-19.

“This appointment is a slap in the face to every health care professional who has spent their lives working to protect patients from preventable illness and death,” the letter says.

Donnie will just see it as a challenge to find someone even more batshit insane and unqualified than Kennedy, and he'll just give him some other job that doesn't require confirmation...

One thing that would scare GOP senators if the pharmaceutical companies that make vaccines threaten not to fund any more GOP campaigns if this anti-vaxxer is supported.

RFK Jr is a disaster if he gets confirmed.

He supports raw milk and avian flu was found recently in raw milk, etc.

Vaccines helped out in the last pandemic; what is he going to do for the next pandemic.

Has he given a satisfactory answer in his role in the measles outbreak in Samoa.

And human services.

Would anyone want to have an operation or be treated for a medical ailment who didn’t have a medical degree or at least certification? He is an insane choice and I’m glad the doctors stood up with this petition. Sadly the 🍊 🤡 doesn’t really care about the health and safety of the American people. And we’re all going to suffer in the upcoming banana republic administration.

12. My father was a small town doctor in the early 60's.

The MAGA of his time, John Bircher's, opposed 'socialized medicine'. My father and his peers managed to get the county vaccinated for smallpox and polio, as well build water and sewer treatment plants (after a cholera outbreak). I remember the lines to get the polio sugar cube and smallpox scratch. The battle over fluoridation was fierce. I believe there has always been a segment of Americans who have a genetic death wish.
