Trump on 'fascinating' Fetterman meeting: 'He's just a commonsense person'
Source: The Hill
“He’s a commonsense person. He’s not liberal or conservative. He’s just a commonsense person, which is beautiful,” Trump said in an interview with the Washington Examiner.
Fetterman was the first Senate Democrat to meet with Trump after the president-elect’s victory, while many Republican lawmakers have traveled to the Palm Beach resort to sit down with the incoming president.
The president-elect told the news outlet he was positive about how the meeting went and praised Fetterman’s wife, Gisele.
He also told the Examiner that U.S. Steel, Israel, the U.S.-Mexico border and acquiring Greenland were discussed in the meeting with the Pennsylvania senator.

(36,999 posts)How is being a "commonsense" person "beautiful"?
ShazzieB
(21,247 posts)It's just one of the all purpose words he likes to throw around.
Anything TSF likes or approves of is "beautiful." Anything he doesn't like or approve of is a "disaster." There are many other examples that i can't recall right now. Using the same interchangeable words for everything is much easier than coming with specific words for every situation!

(41,195 posts)Also, astute post!
You've got his rhetorical lexicon of 'nothing' down.
Intriguing -- maybe for the fun of it we could pull together a bunch of other "nothing" words he uses. It's not as if we haven't been exposed to them over the last eight years. His old/new labels for Democrats like "shifty-Schiff, or "Newscum" come to mind.
Thanks!

(7,779 posts)Nothing unusual about a sitting president meeting with a senator, even from the opposing side. But he’s not yet president. What’s the rush for a meeting?

(955 posts)He states that he is advocating for his state. Great, but why fly over to Florida NOW before the Felon is in office?
Have wildfires ravaged Philadelphia?
I’m waiting to see the Immediate benefits to help Pennsylvania that required a democratic senator to pay homage.
We should see something this first week, right?
it was soooooo urgent .
I wonder if he wore his torn apart gym shorts and ill-fitting hoodies.
Clue- if he didn’t, we know what this.

(41,195 posts)To get direct access to info that the rest of the caucus wouldn't be privy to? Possibly positioning himself as a "double agent" to con the felon into eventually revealing secrets that could be useful for the party?

(41,195 posts)We'll know more when we see his votes; I'm erring on the side that he votes with the Senate caucus on the floor and in committees.

(15,367 posts)power, and he is of no real political value to Trump. Doesn't mean Fetterman won't switch parties, but he has nothing to gain and a lot to lose.

The dude is a republican who lied to get into office. A child could see this fact. He isn't even hiding it!

(16,935 posts)Who knows, maybe Fetterman will be a good influence on Trump. I'm sure Gisele was during the meeting.
And, it wouldn't surprise me at all that Gisele is the real reason Trump invited Fetterman to FL. She's beautiful. She's also Brazilian which would fit Trump's MO of being attracted to foreign women.
How could one tell the difference between the two?
And no, this isn't there is no difference between D and R post.
Between your two comparisons.

(20,431 posts)decontextualized snippets from an interview, and it’s news?
“The Washington Examiner said that Trump said that Fetterman said….” Doesn’t strike me as news.
Sounds more like like Trump is stirring up mischief via a right wing news outlet.
